i cant stand it anymore, car is a 2000 ls v6 5spd manual, very light on gas it keeps pinging, i always run shell 93 octance, right now i have a bottle of chevron techron fuel system cleaner in it. could it be :q:q:q:qty injectors, if so how much, and how do i replace, its very annoying

That's a problem you may want to have professionally diagnosed. Otherwise, you could end up just throwing money at it.

A light pinging at slow engine speed and light load is not uncommon in older engines. Even my 04 V8 would ping a bit on hills when I manually shifted to a gear higher than was best for the hill adrove at the 25mph posted limit. If I used more gas or shifted down the ping went away.

With the age of your car, it could be the combustion chamber is a bit carbon fouled. This is the usual cause of this kind of problem.

Also might be O2 sensors, EGR, intake needs cleaning, ignition timing is a bit off etc.

THis is probably one of those problems that may be better handled professionally since there are so many possible causes. Putting it on a computer and watching the parameters as you drive is the better way to localize the cause.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson
