Hello all Marve here
I got a 90s Lsc with 4.10 rear end about a month after the install i lost 3rd and 4th gear, the car still drives and about 8 months before the i had the trans serviced with shift kit mercon 5 flush and fill and new seals. I had only put 1200 miles on it after i rebuilt the rearend i has gt500 bearings and differential clutch packs but it its not a full posi unit just a beefed up traction lok unit. Same shop told me trans was ok before my 3.27 went out and was told it was ok 500 miles after the 4.10 install, i went back after the loss of the 2 gears and was told that the Aod is weak link here. Is it really that weak? It has lasted longer then my 4R70W that was rebuilt with a transcooler in my 97 mark 8 Lsc. Also is it worth a performance rebuild ? Been told to put a t-5 in it by other mechanics but herd the aod high first gear wants the 4.10 and i should use a 3.73 with a t-5? My only mods to the car is 160 degree thermostat free flowing exhaust not cats no mufflers just pipes 3speed racing fan clutch other then the 4.10 rear end the has 245/45/16 out back and 235/50/16 up front handles like a boss just dont know it i should put a trans or just put my 460 efi/c6 auto in it and call it a day.

I had 4.10's with my T5, and it was a blast to drive. You burned through first gear pretty quick, though. It is a matter of what you want out of the car. If you want to row your own gears, swap in a beefed up manual transmission...but know that you cannot flog ANY manual in a two-ton Lincoln without breaking something. If you want a solid, consistent cruiser, build the AOD to fit your style.

So an beefed up aod is what i need. Cool now i must debate with in myself 302 efi or 460 efi build, I gotta do suspension work any way.
