3rd time RESEALING HEADLIGHTS AND STILL FOGGING!!

Im so tired of takes the headlights apart and resealing them.. this is my 3rd time and they still get foggy somehow.. I dont know what to do or what I could be doing wrong... any tips out there would be highly appreciate it..
 
What areas of the headlights have you sealed all three times? The adjoining seam of the back and front lens, or areas where bulbs plug in the housing. I've had angel eyes installed and one of mine still fogs up from time to time, mostly when it rains or when I wash it. I've not tried to re-seal it, but Ken at LS koncepts has told me before that you may need to seal around the bulb. I think there may be a rubber gasket there or something. Maybe someone else can chime in and give you a little more detail there.

Also, are you making sure the headlights are completely dry inside before you put them back in your car. If there is still water inside the casing, you will still have the fogging issue.
 
They were perfect and I was very satisfy untill a couple days later I took my car to the car wash and the one headlight still fogging up .. I sealed all around the headlight..
 
yea, the sealant you use is very important.. bough some silicone sealant from home depot.. and it was garbage... i bough that RTV high heat sealant, but have yet to try it
 
I just sealed it around the headlight where the gray sealent is... I used the black sealant they sell at auto zone... rvt sealent ..
 
Yes, they have a couple breathers... That shouldn't make them fog though.

Did you seal the 3 or 4 holes on the top of the black housing (where the lens snaps into the black plastic housing)? You have to be very liberal with the RTV (black preferably).
 
i had one lightfogging up when i did it and all i did was to re-heat the light for about 5 mins, then pressed it even more together and it did go in a lil bit more. no more probs since.
 
I have resealed mine at least 2-3 times each light. I even used clear penetrating silicone around the seam when I was done. Worked for about a month each time but problem always returned. I finally just drilled four small holes along the bottom of the of the housing (making sure that I didn't go to deep and that the bezel would hide). Been fog free for 3 weeks now and it has been cold and raining. Appears I may have solved the problem.

The previous owner of my car did the same thing. Then they took clear silicone to the seams and the holes they drilled. Must not have worked like they wanted it to. If you would, keep us updated on the progress of this. In a couple of weeks if you are still fog free, I may unplug the holes on my lights.
 
Question.. This black high temp RTV sealeant everyone is talking about. What if you need to get backinto your headlights? Will the sealeant "re-melt" when baked? or is it a one shot deal
 
My lights are still clear and it was raining and crappy for the last 3 days. I used a size 5/32 drill bit.
