A week after getting the car back from the second time in the shop this summer, the coil goes again. 3rd time in a row. 1st time was a separate coil, 2nd and 3rd times were the same one, so I'm told.

On top of it, the catalytic converters finally went too. All of the blown coils were too much for them to handle I guess. Not sure if one or two or all three went.

All I know is it's costing the dealership a pretty penny to fix.

So far between now and June, the car has worked normally, with no problems for a whopping total of 2 1/2 weeks.

:q:q:q:qing car. Just thought I'd share/vent. Thanks!:D

If the car missfires and has power loss how can that cause the Cat to blow?

I hear yah, but after a bit it all starts to work out. I had a ton of problems but I thnk it is all past me now and I am pretty happy, I just have a few tweeks left to work on that I am not even worried about. Good luck and be patient.

yeah like he said, all of the unburned fuel basically "uncatalyizes" the cats. sending off all sorts of check engine lights. Only when the cats got really hot did the car really act up to the point i would have no acceleration going up a hill and the car would not be able to maintain highway speeds. but when they cool down the car drives somewhat normal with the exception of the bad coil. but eventually, driving it to the dealership doing 50mph with the flashers on, the car sounded like a boat out of water and gave me whiplash.

hmm, i was dealin with a miss on the p/s for like 8 months, finally got it fixed and now my exhaust is weak out of the p/s. does that sound like a bad cat?

if you had a bad cat, youd def know it. your car would be giving off a cel and itd sound and run like :q:q:q:q
