Car was working fine last night, then all of a sudden i put it in reverse..takes a second or 2 longer to actually get into gear. then when i put it into D5 an E popped up in place of the D5.

Then I got 3 errors... check transmission, check parking break, and something to do with the gearshift select.

everything seems to be working fine, is this just a wiring problem or what?

Pull any DTC's you may have and get back to me bud. I will take care of ya. Do a visual check of your trans if you can. Just check the plug and yadda, yadda, yadda. There was a significant weather change lately so more crap is on the ground to run over and get slung up in there. I doubt anything like that is the problem, but it is best to start with the simplest items first before moving to the bigger ones.

One thing I forgot to ask you on the phone is does it drive, act, sound, or shift any different when showing those error messages?

I am thinking it is likely your trans solenoid pack that is going; which unfortunately has become somewhat common even on the Gen2's. This may be a premature diagnosis though.

p0705

I pulled the code.. P0705.. everything drives normal except a slight hesitation when going into R

If your aftermarket stereo is drawing too much power at times it will sometimes cause codes to be thrown. In that case the codes are almost always random due to the voltage drop. I had a buddy who had an aftermarket electrical fan, electric water pump, and electric this that and the other thing. One day it was bad weather out and he was idling in traffic more or less using all electrical accessories he had and the truck threw a camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction code. He checked the CPS and it was just fine. When he looked at his logging he noticed that around the time the DTC code popped up his battery voltage had dropped for a little while. That could be another possibility. Troubleshooting is not fun sometimes with problems like this because there is more than one plausible possibility.

phew

after finding out it was the range sensor.. Set the xcal2 back to stock... and have been driving in for 2 days now since then.. no more errors at all... STUPID ford... I havent put the tune back in yet... so hopefully everything will be okay when I do.

I suggest driving your car around for a while longer. I am pretty sure the problems will arise again with time. These things don't just go away. Keep the car the way it is so that when something does arise again then it will be already back to stock, the code's will be there and you can take it into the dealership to have them fix it under warranty if there is an actual problem with the TRS. If it is just voltage drop causing the sensors to go haywire then that will require its own troubleshooting. I do not mean to be a buzzkill but I think your situation requires more troubleshooting.

yea, I didn't think my problem was going to go away..I was just saying Ive driven probably 3-400 miles since i reset it to stock and still nothing..but I'm sure it will be back... soon:mad:

In some ways you hope it will come back soon so that you can deal with the problem. On the other hand, who wants their car to have problems. Catch 22. ;) Best of luck to you resolving this problem Tim.
