2004 LS V8- Loud clunck in shift

Good morning LVC,

I have a 2004 LS V-8. I have heard this loud clunck like a hard shift when I move the gear from drive to park. This mostly happens when i am on an incline but as soon as I'm about to park somewhere and shift from drive or reverse to park, "clunck". This is not all the time but happens enough to where i want to be sure of what it is. Is there something wrong.

Go to N, then set the parking brake, before going to Park on inclines. Actually, always do it regardless of the slope.

Yup. That is the transmission settling on the parking pawl.
