Hello,
I have had this LS for three years. The car has been absolutely great until this fall when I started experiencing a few problems. I am sick of putting time & money into it and am not mechanically inclined AT ALL. If your looking for a deal on an LS and want to put some time & money into this car - make me an offer. Below you will find all the problems & details. Thanks!

2002 Lincoln LS V8 - Silver

104k+ miles
Factory Chrome Rims
Alpine 6 disk
Black Heated Leather Seats
Good tread left on tires
The car runs and shifts smooth
Heater and AC work well
Body and interior are in excellent condition for the age

Problems:
1.) The car usually starts fine, but 1 out of 5 times it will take 5-10 seconds of trying to turn over before it actually does. I have replaced the battery and the starter in December. However, is still doing it. Now the mechanic "thinks" it's the fuel pump. I didn't order that yet.

2.) The car is running fine on long trips. I drive it back and forth to the office few times per week and to my parent's house once or twice a month (50+ mile trip). However, if i do a few short trips back to back around town, it will begin to run hot. I pull it over, let it cool, and then it will run fine. The mechanic told me that it could be air bubbles in the coolant, the hydraulic fan, or the fan pump - but he didn't know enough and said take it to dealer. No fluid levels are down or leaking. No white smoke. No strange smells.

3.) Sun roof - This problem was pre-existing when I purchased the car. The track is messed up with the sun roof. It will go up to crack, but not all the way back. The motor is fine. I never looked into getting it fixed, because I think it would be expensive to have someone fix it. I just don't use the sunroof.

Let me know if you have any questions. Highest offers takes it. I'm in Central PA. I'd rather not ship it.

Thanks

I suggest the fact that most all of that is simple to fix and and relatively inexpensive.

What I do not recommend is buying a car from a member who just joined to sell a car...

I would take it to a reputable mechanic who knows how to work on the LS. Maybe a member on here from your area knows of a good one around you. Or maybe a member would be willing to help you out. Sounds like manageable problems to take care of.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I did just join this forum to sell the car. I have been a lurker for a few years, but never posted anything.

I will take pics this weekend if anyone is interested. If not, I am happy to hear that some of you do not think the problems are too serious/costly.

Thanks

Suggestions: Starting: Take to Advance Auto, Auto Zone etc. to have starter systen fully checked out. FREE!! Cooling: replace thermostat, use something like Prestone Radiator Flush, follow directions, flush out radiator cooling system, re-fill with 50-50 coolant. All cn be done for about $40. Check radiator hoses to ensure they are not collapsing when hot. Search other threads for many reports/repairs on these same problems. Leave sunroof closed. Follow recommended preventative maintenance requirements, like filter changes, oil changes etc. Cheaper than trading vehicles, if these are the only problems. Find someone more mechanically inclined/exsperienced to help, we all did @ sometime & still do as we get older. You can never learn to much, & never know evrything, even if you think you do. Try to get several suggestions on repair procedures so you have a better idea what may work & can budget repairs. Just an old mans thoughts. Good luck!
