a couple weeks ago out of no where my check engine light came on and the car felt like it was about to die so i pulled over shut it down for about 5 mins drove it to autozone and the codes read i had miss fired #2 and #8, so i replaced those plugs and coils would've done them all but low on the money at the time. well reset and light stayed off then couple days ago i got and air metering fuel code it was causing my car to over heat 212 degress after running for ten mins. well on my way to change the termostat the damn check engine like came back on and i miss fired #8 again, this car has 54,0000 and i've had it since 46,0000 also i just found out that i've been putting 89 octane when it calls for 91+. all this has happened in the last three weeks and i don't know what to or where to start

well i changed out that termostat seems to be running fine as far as the temp goes. but noe the cel keeps coming on and off. it doesn't blink when it comes on it just stays on and then goes away after a couple drives. but even while the light is off it still reads #8 miss fire from my friends machine. so maybe it's either a bad fuel injector or maybe loose wiring. plus i'm having a horrible idle and a drag between 45and 60 mph and up hills. either way does ne one have ne links to these jobs. i've been through all the threads alot lately that the only reason i think it may be one of the two. any advice or help would greatly be appreciated thank you

have you disconnected the battery for about 30 mins? try that and it may clear up the drag between 45-60mph. and don't put anything other than 91+ octane now that you've noticed it. just my 2 cents

Check the wiring harness and the connection for the #8 COP. I forgot to make sure one was snapped on correctly once.

The readout that says it's #8 isn't always accurate, the PCM determines the misfiring cylinder by monitoring the rotation of the crankshaft, pretty sloppy method IMO. Bite the bullet and replace all the COPs (and plugs), because if one or two are bad, they'll all go bad soon, especially if they are the crappy factory ones from Ford.
