2001 ls v8 code p0172

Had this code and a p0303 changed out the # 3 pack and that code went away . After 2 days of driving The p0172 came back, The engine is hard to start.Runs fine a little hesitation in Idle. And when it takes a while to start you can smell gas as well. After it starts it runs ok.

that code means rich bank 1, could be a injector leaking possibly #3 injector which caused the misfire on #3, to be sure, just take the coil you took out and put it temporarily into another cylinder if it misses on that cylinder it definitely was bad.

I'd swap the plug too.

Vacuum leak? I thought I got that code when I had a vacuum leak. Been a while.

Yes I will try to do the injector this weekend ,And report back rich means either too much fuel or not enough air so have to try somewhere thanks for advise guys

Ok Went to dealer to have checked out

Dealer says #1 injector leaking, may be another one as well.Joe can they tell witch one is leaking or no.

Sure they can. The question is will they do the correct tests to confirm it. (Often, they don't.)

Well Its fixed

Did change the rocker cover gaskets , and # 3 injector . Car starts good now,and 3 days later another light . I think it is lean now. will get back to you on that.

Light is gone

The injector was changed again and now has had 1500 kms on it and all ok. No more light and starts on first crank.
