I have a 2001 lincoln LS my transmission when bad i guess that what the dealership said and they said it couldnt be rebuilt so i went looking for a tranny at car-parts which shows that that car has 2 different codes
(YW4P-AA) & (1W4P-AA) well mine had the yw4p-aa tranny but the junk guy made a mistake and order the 1w4p-aa tranny I told him that it was wrong cause the ford tech said that it must me the same one that came out but the junk guy said the tranny is interchangable is this true that this tranny will work in my ls or do i need to get the right one

Would one be for manual and the other be for automatic? Just a thought that might be right.. but then again, i've been wrong in the past :)

Well, they are both automatics, the 5R55N, for the 3.9. From what I can find, it looks like the YW4P-AA is for the 2000 model with a production date before 4/19/2000. I don't know if your computer will play nice with it or not. I guess we'll need someone more knowledgeable to weigh in on this one....

2001 to 2002 LINCOLN LS A.T., (model 5R55N), 8 cyl, ID 1W4P-AA

2000 Lincoln LS A.T., (model 5R55N), 8 cyl, ID YW4P-AA

the ford tech said it may just be a bracket change or a inside gear change or anything, but the junkyard guy said the same that its the same motor so the tranny sound work and its automatic tranny?
