I have a 2001 V8LS and getting number a misfire on number 5 coil pack. where is number 5 located? Ford is telling me it is 2nd cylinder in on passenger side but other sites show it on driver side

First, it is not a coil pack. It is a COP.

A coil pack has two or three coils in it and it fires four or six cylinders. (A V8 would have two two-coil packs.) It has spark plug wires going to each plug.

A COP (Coil On Plug) has a single coil that fires a single plug. COPs generally (there are exceptions) don't have spark plug wires. A V8 has eight COPs.

#5 cylinder is at the front of the engine on the driver's side.

Bank 1 is the passenger's side with cylinders 1 to 4.
Bank 2 is the driver's side with cylinders 5 to 8.

BTW,
1. You should always replace the spark plug when you replace the COP.
2. You would be better off to go ahead and replace the other 7 plugs and COPs. - Experience says that they will fail one by one in a few months too.
3. If there is standing oil in any of the plug wells, you must change the valve cover gaskets.

and that pretty much cover it all, i would also start looking for a new dealership to deal with.
