Ohhhh boy oh boy! It looks like the old LS has a leaky water pump. Anyone done a water pump on a 2000 V6? How bad is it? Am I better off to take it to the dealer? I have always worked on my own vehicles, but as we all know, the LS is a different bird...

its not that hard to change and theres no gaskets involved. you have to take the main hose assembly off where they all intersect. i took pictures of it as i went. unbolt the rad and fan so you can move them alittle. take the belt off. i would draw a picture of the way the belt is routed. its not to hard really the first motor i ever pulled and reinstalled was on my 2000 ls v6 and it wasnt that hard. heres a good place to get the pump. the pic shows a gasket but that must be for the v8. once your done changing the pump you will have to bleed all the air from your cooling system. you can get a service cd or ask the service desk at the dealership if they could possibly print the procedure from there computers.
