My LS is having transmission problems again. It has th3 3.9l V8. This is a junkyard transmission that has around 30,000 miles on it. It worked fine for 10000 miles. The problem only seems to occur between D4 and D5. If I drive the car easy I just feel a bit of jerking around 1700 rpm when going up a grade. If I get on the car hard, it acclerates fine and shifts good till it gets to D4 then it acts like the transmission is lost. The rpm shoots too the max and I get a E is the gear indicator or the car dies. Could this problem be a solenoid pack? I am ready to sell this thing. But I don't want to sell it with a dicked up transmission. I had the tranny flushed at the local Ford dealership but it did not help the problem. Thanks

lincoln ls with maybe transmission problems

I have the exact same problems you are haveing, I notice that when the car downshifts it sometimes shoots up the rpms with no acceleration, the acceleration I do have is very jerky. I had tranny filter change, and checked by many different shops. one guy said speed sensor, other shops say nothing wrong, some even say clutch is slipping, I would appreciate any info on this, I am going nuts racking my mind and options on what the problem might be.

Yea, mines in the shop right now with the exact problem, bad news is, they swapped solenoids, drove it for about 5 minutes, new code, they are diagnosing it now, I should know by tonight so when they call I'll post.

Had that prob too

It was the Valvebody, $440.00 not including Labor.

ahha i just read the posts and the thread as i was searching valve body (i read most post and went all the way to the last page!!). the thread where you had all the trouble doin it yourself.

Thanks for the input everyone. I had to forget about the Lincoln and go to Cozumel for a week. I feel much better now. I guees I will put in a new valve body before I sell the car.

Tranny issue

Similar problems with my 01. Went to a great tranny shop. The guy went to his e-tech site and found the problem to be a tiny spring that had split in two. Seems that sometimes it would orient itself correctly and work and other times not.

Total cost, with a flush, was $300 bucks. Car runs like a top.
