2000 Ls Sport Sputters and die's

With 120mi showing on the miles left to empty, coast to gas station, fill up, runs fine. It's done this twice. It's my wifes car so I'm not in it when it occures..

Any Ideas?

What's the gas gauge say when this happens?

sounds like the in tank fuel pump. since car is RWD it uses saddle style tank. One pump shoots gas from one side of the tank to the other. That pump is probably failing.

I thought It might be the pump, but why not fail completely. Unaware of the tank design as it may play a part in it's habits.

Not sure of the guage reading, As I said I was not in the car when this has occured. She just indicated it was @ 120mi till empty on fuel center. My wife only looks at that as her gauge to get gas......

it's the pump that shoots from one side to the other. the main pump is working fine. when your fuel level gets to less than 50% and you corner....all the gas rushes to one side of the tank and the pump responsible there is failing....

Is this costly and or difficult job to repair?
