Sup guys. I installed a system in my Lincoln about 2 months ago and everything was sounding awesome until about a week ago. The music plays fine while the car is off and at idle but when I give it gas the bass shuts off and comes back in. The faster I go the bass turns off. As soon as Im at cruising speeds the bass is just fine. I have the sub amp on a separate battery and my 4 channel on the regular batt. Mind you the sub amp is grounded to the negative terminal on the second batt. Figured that would be fine because it was so close together. I have constantly been checking the voltage at both batteries and it always says 14.1-14.15. Could the alt be failing? I've played the music loud at idle and each time I get a drop in the voltage the alt always keeps it charged. So Im kinda stumped. Could it be the bs ground I was lazy on?

Check out my vid when everything was working properly. Excuse the mess in the car :)

It sounds like your alternator cant keep up with charging both batteries when you are driving. That fact that the Alternator is always reading 14.1 volts while at idol sounds like it is constantly trying to charge both batteries all the time, and when you start driving it is just to much power for the alternator to keep up with.

you could have something loose and the movement of acceleration is puting it into the spot where the connection is lost, i would remove the second battery and try to hook it up to the main battery, and see if the problem goes away.

also double and triple check all of your connections

adding a second battery with out adding extra charging ability(H/O alt) will put more stress on your alt instead of relieving it!

i agree with 1st response. same thing was happening to my accord itn would run fine at idle but as soon as that fuel pump and other accesories start working more the car would either shut off or the amps would shut off. sounds like the culprit here is the alternator. what kind of amps are you running? might want to consider a ho alternator before you ruin another one.

I disagree. If the battery voltage is staying at 14 to 14.5 volts as the OP indicated, the alternator is not the problem.

It sounds like a loose wire to me.

I missed this part the first time, absolutely, the grounds are just as important as the main power wire, all grounds must be very secure, and where you ground it too can make a huge difference! whatever power comes into the amp also has to leave the amp.

what is BS about your ground?

Well I took my ground wire from the amp and connnected it to the negative terminal on my second batt. After I posted this the bass starred playing perfectly fine for some reason. Atl is still changing so I don't kno what happened.

it sounds like either the ground location wasn't good (maybe resistance to ground was to high) or the connection wasn't secure
