1998 Mk 8 remote start

Has anyone heard of a 98 mk8 that wont start because remote was dropped/damaged? I have heard of other cars that wont start because the remote isn't communicating with vehicle but is this true on a 98? Any help will be appreciated.

No, that is not true. The remote is not needed to start the car. If yours won't start, it is because of some other mechinal issue.

Depends, if the lock button is stuck down it might be sending a lock signal constantly. Pulling the battery out of the remote would tell for sure but everyones right it most likely isn't related to the remote...
