I was reading about catch codes in another thread and didn't want to jack that thread so here we go. I have learned my 96 is a one year only PCM. Does anybody know how many different catch codes there were in 96? If there were more than one is there one that is preferred?

all of them share the same strategy, the above info was found over on www.fordfuelinjection.com

i havent researched the many possible differences, but its very doubtful any one provides anything performance like the early 93 pcm.

the early 93 was a pre-production release, once the warranty dept and bean counters got involved, all the pcms were very close in the suckage dept.

The 93 is the one for our cars. There is one for sale with a 93 driveshaft some where in the fo sale forum.

XLRVIII thanks for the detailed info! I kind of figured there wouldn't be a magic PCM for the 96 since it was a single year deal.

1bad4.6L I saw that ad too. I'm not sure that will work on mine though. I'm pretty sure the 96 has a unique wiring harness to go with the unique PCM, VCRM, and IMRC controllers :Bang I may be wrong though.

Whoa :q:q:q:q I totally derfed the fact yours was a 96. :Bang :Bang :Bang :Bang

LOL its okay! It certainly seems to make finding some parts for it interesting from what I've read on here. Fortunately for me though the previous owner stockpiled some of them just in case and they came with the car:D I got a few VCRM's and IMRC's as well as 2 sets of almost new looking headlights to replace the yellow burnt ones on it now. I think I'm gonna install the ones that look like aftermarket replacements as soon as I figure out how to mount the bulbs. It looks like they are supposed to be held in with screws instead of the regular twist lock rings?

Hmm... spare VRCMs you say? I may have to hit you up for on come spring if interested in selling. I *think* I need one, the high speed portion of my fuel pump seems to cut out.

Although the Mark may be gone by spring anyway in favor of something else.

You had enough????

I may be willing to share LOL. Honestly I would want to test them first since I dont know if the previous owner ever got a chance to.

You have a set of the rare lsc housings... worth a bit of ching. You want to get a set of aftermarket bulbs and some adapter rings.

Ah I see. I just searched the LSC housings and i see that they have a ring that uses screw to hold the bulbs in. I had no idea thats why they were like that I thought they were cheap knockoffs like on the tuner cars lol. Damn Im a noob! I think im gonna use them then for sure cause I like the clear lenses with out the "bumps".

I also see that you (KK) used to make adapter rings for actually doing this conversion lol. Do you still make them? :D I might need a set when I do the swap.

I'm sure he'll trade you a set of rings for those cheapomadeinchina tuner knockoff clear headlights.
(grins)

LOL

hell he'll probably trade you a stack of those rings for them and you could sell the rings on ebay and get rich, just send him the housings.
(ends sarcasm)

LOL. And about 5 seconds before I read KK's post I would have sold them cheap too! I seriously thought they were some tuner ish thing. Even though they are built much nicer. Man it looks like I still have a lot more to learn

those lights were the 95 1/2 LSC and 96 LSC HID headlights..very rare and hard to find...and should be said that the OEM bulbs are unavailable as well.
meaning if you blow out a headlight, Autozone aint gonna be on the list of places to stop...sorry to say.

luckily as you've found there are conversion kits out there, KK should be fairly able to get you steered in the correct direction

(pushes KK up to the front of the line)
HAHA

I have rings to sell... gonna be making a bunch more this weekend... been failing to make more lately...

that's ok, that's an LVC trait you picked up in no time.
You're gonna fit in just fine, if you made it this far.
no worries

Thanks man. It just seems so easy to get side tracked once you get in a discussion about these cars:D

:confused:x2...read this after posting (i thought) on a thread concerning a crooked mechanic on Long Island...never mind, I'll just blame the heat for it ending up here:q
