Ok, i'll try to put all the info in i can. Finally got the LS that i always wanted, gen2 LSE. Had it about 1 month and started to get mis / hesitation. This is my second LS so I am aware of their bugs and problems. When I first got it home I checked the coils and found that 2 had been replaced, no oil in holes and someone had put in cheap plugs. Car has 79k miles. I knew about the coil problems and that Ford extended the warranty on them. Took it to local dealer, they found one coil misfire, ordered and installed at not cost, great! Week later I installed new Bosch plat plugs and the car felt like I got 10-15 HP bump! Ran great! Last week the family took a 30-40 mile drive, everything fine. Got in the car to come home and it was shaking / missing bad and CEL. It was very hot that day and I thought maybe the heat made one or more of the remaining original coils go bad. Limped it home, couldn't get it into ford till fallowing week so I went to auto zone to pull code, #5 misfire, thats what I thought. Ford called this morning and they are saying that the ECU/PCM is not turning on injector #6? $1300 to order and replace!!!! Any ideas?!?! Love the car, don't have $1300!!!! Sorry so long...:(

actually I've heard of rust and debris getting in the injectors on cars that have sat for a longer period of time, may try taking out the fuel rail and injectors and sending them to a rebuild or cleaning company, I don't know any of hand but i know they are out there.

And yes LS injectors aren't cheap, you could how ever save a lot of money by doing the work your self, I don;t believe its a very difficult job, just time consuming.

Assuming that things were reported correctly, they said "the ECU/PCM is not turning on injector #6." That is not at all they same as "injector #6 isn't spraying fuel" so an injector problem wouldn't be the issue.

If Ford did the diagnosis correctly, then it is a new PCM that will be needed.
I would want to verify first that they checked correctly. I'd hook a scope or at least a light (LED) to the #6 injector connections and verify that it isn't being pulsed. Then I'd check at the PCM connector to make sure it isn't the wiring. Note that you need to do this at first start up or after clearing the misfire code. Otherwise, the PCM will turn the injector off on purpose to try and save the catalytic converters. Also note that the injector connectors are easy to damage.

Thanks for the post. Just got back from dealer. They did move around coils and plugs. said they pinned it to the #6 injector not firing from the computer. He did not say they swapped injectors. didn't get to talk to the tech, only desk guy! I didn't get to bring it home (no ride). update, Its getting code P0353, P0356, P0357, P0358 which is a coil driver code... anyone hear of this problem before????

Pcm

So did replacing the PCM solve your problems with those 4 codes b/c I am having the same issues.

It did fix it. Now I have a short in my idle air control circuit and it's draining my battery. Just another item on the never ending list with these cars.

4 Codes

Thanks. It's so difficult to find a PCM. I don't want to buy one from Ford. I sent it to GoECM but twice they said it was good. Any ideas. Don't want the dealership to do it either. Now I can remove it in about 1/2 hour.

What year is your car and what engine? You can find a used computer easy on car-parts.com. Just checked carparts not popping up I found all these on Ebay.

Unfortunately you do need to see a dealer this pcm has to be flash programmed, on the car, by a qualified mechanic.
