It went into fail safe mode today with the codes P2107/P2110. I have had a misfire for weeks now.... just waiting on it throw a code so I didnt have to replace them all. 1,2,4 have been replaced within a year. Now this.... so do you think it its the throttle postition sensor, throttle body, or coils?

I was 100% sure it was a coil... so I took it to the dealer so they could test it and it was #5 coil.... fixed under warranty.... only 2K till 100K then no more warranty.....
They also let me drive home a 08 MKX..... LOVE IT! going to trade soon!!!!

Brace yourself

it was #5 coil.... fixed under warranty.... only 2K till 100K then no more warranty.....

When mine went, one died first, then another, then another all within a few weeks. I think replacing several may be in the offing.

From another site for technicians...
I decided to post this in case anyone here has the unpleasant task of tracking a misfire on one of these. had a 2000 Jag S-Type come through the shop with a dead misfire, had the usual 2 codes one for cyl # 3 and multiple misfire. there is a bulletin on this particular car for water entering the bank 2 ( Left side not right side ) spark plug holes through the coil pack covers, well I decided to replace the 2 rear coils due to water damage, replaced all the plugs and road tested, car ran beautiful. shut it down and had lunch.

Start the car to back it out thinking it was ready to let go, now has intermittent misfire at idle. the shop owner decides to let the owner take the car, I myself forwarned him to replace all the coil packs (it seems Jag has issues with the coils going bad all the time.) about 3 days later owner brings the car back, sputters at idle, check codes no pending or permanent codes, but when I went into last drive cycle it had a code stored for cyl# 5 bank 1 ( right side ) replace the coil and tested miss gone, let the car sit, miss came back LOL:)

I took a Matco coil pack spark tester, the one that has the Paddle at the end with the flashing LED (very useful I might add ) and started going over the coil packs and you could see them double firing, and each time the car missed coincided with the double fire. I decided I had had enough and replaced them all. Miss now gone and so was the double fire issue.

My guess is the original coils were bleeding enough current to affect the adjacent coils.
