Hey guys last night i ran into a pretty cool guy that was willing to have some fun anyways we went at it couple times... 1st run he got on it before me and beat me by a car and a half, but i started to catch up slowly top end. 2nd run we went from 1st gear roll i had a slight jump, maybe a fender, and i pulld about a car and a half by 100, 3rd run we went off the line and he jumpd on it just a bit off the line but we stayed even through 1st then once i hit second i started to leave him slowly and by 120 had about 2 cars on him. I had a full tank of gas and i had 1 friend with me, all i know is that he had 2 friends with him and im not sure if he had anything done to it, im guessing not.. My car is stock but i did do the airbox modification which i didnt realy see it make a diff.. anyways when we went from the line we both powerbrake so im guessing he knows what his doing..

Oh the car was black color and it lookd real clean... if ur on here thats was a good race man

i posted this in the sts forum too..

I have a good friend who owns a Cadillac dealership. He has been trying to get me in a Cadillac for years. I almost bought an STS from him once. But I told him it just didn't feel like the Northstar would run with my LS. He scoffed at me. I tossed him the keys to my car and told him to see for himself. Later that day when I came back to drop his car off and pick mine up, he had to admit the LS was pretty good...but that's as far as he would go. I'm glad to see this result...it only confirms what I've always thought.

yup top of my every gear seems to be stronger then top of his gears... ;) i tought i would loose tho since they do have 300 hp

Just my opinion and an observation...

The STS at least looks like a heavier car and it appears to have more frontal surface(drag). So their 300hp might not be enough to compensate versus the 250(?)hp of the older LS. I forget the "rule of thumb" but I think it is ..."you need 10hp for every hundred pounds to keep up". Plus as mentioned, with more drag, the STS is going to start hitting the wall at high speeds.

An observation. I think Cadillac either detuned or changed the power curve on some of the newer Northstars. I was in a Northstar powered Sedan Deville(?, the big one) with a friend of mine. It was a dealer loaner(2001?). He is a somewhat agressive driver and there was some plain Toyota Camry or something that wanted to pass him as we came to a 2 into 1 lane situation. As was instinctual for my friend, he got on the gas and I was sitting there thinking, jeez, he isn't going to let a Toy pass him is he? We just barely got ahead of the toy. Later he told me he had it to the wall and the car was just gutless.

His mid 90s STS had way more punch so I had expected more from the newer model. But, either the weight was against us or Caddy has messed with the power curve.

Just my opinions and observation,

Awhile ago I was coming down a road and this dark red STS(unsure of year, maybe between '98-'01) pulled out right in front of me so I just punched in and he was going to make it difficult to pass but I just shot by easily.
