Need advice on buying a used LS

I've been driving a 94 Mark VIII for the last several years. It still runs great, but has over 140k miles on it, and I think it's time to send it down the road. I'd like to get into an LS. Being a Mark VIII owner, my instinct says go for the LS V8. However, I know that a manual tranny was...

help needed with a 2002 STS

I'm trying to help out a buddy with a 2002 STS and a limited budget. He recently had a tune-up done by a non-Cadillac mechanic. Just to clarify, this is a certified mechanic, just not a Cadillac mechanic. He did plugs, fuel filter, and tranny service. The hope was that all this would clear...

How do I take the console apart on a 2001 STS?

My roommate has a 2001 STS, and the black plastic/rubber thing around the shifter (underneath the woodgrain console surface - in the channel where the shifter travels) is all mucked up, and binding up the shifter. I'm figuring that the easiest short term fix is to remove this piece, but I'm not...

How many manual LS cars were manufactured?

I'm currently a Mark VIII driver, but have been eyeballing the LS as my next driver. I just discovered they made a manual version of this car - and I think that's the ticket for me. Was it only the 2000 model year that the manual trans was offered? How many did they make? And most...

Chrome Mark VIII Wheels For Sale

sounds high, but not ridiculous. have you ever priced chroming anything? the epa has made it difficult for shops that do chroming, and subsequently they have to charge more. I priced chroming a bmx bicycle frame, and it was going to be over $350. not a cheap process anymore.

Anyone know a good transmission shop in the DC area?

I'm currently doing some investigating about these guys, located in Chantilly: http://www.eb3motorsports.com/ I've yet to get a recommendation for them, but on the surface they appear to be the real deal.

Anyone know a good transmission shop in the DC area?

Thanks - I've been following that thread. However, I used to own a car dealership, and I know all too well about places like AAMCO. I also know the value of small shops - that's really what I'm fishing for; a small shop that does good work in Northern Virginia.

Anyone know a good transmission shop in the DC area?

The transmission in my 94 is talking to me, and it telling me it's going to need open-heart surgery soon. I'd like to get it beefed up a little, but not a race build - just enough to handle enthusiastic driving. I live in Northern Virginia - does anyone know of a good transmission shop in this area?

    Check This Car Out

That thing is friggin' bad! However, I were on the design team, I would have recommended a different treatment for the rear wheel wells. I hate fender skirts, and that's what I think of when I see that. Other than that - it's a seriously bad car.

    New Stripes: U'll Ether Love'em or Hate'em

Whatever you like best, dude - it's your car! In any case, for whatever it's worth, I like it better with the strobe than with the little wimpy stripe. It's a darn sharp Mark that will have no trouble attracting attention.

    New Stripes: U'll Ether Love'em or Hate'em

I like those graphics, and would NOT abandon the idea for the 1/2" stripe. They remind me of the muscle car era Mopar strobe stripes, and your design lends itself very well to the shape of the car (not an easy task - job well done). However, the matte black is such a stark contrast to the other...

thinking of buying an Eldorado - need advice

well...a blown head gasket is indeed a big issue. I guess what I'm really asking is what things to look for when checking out a potential purchase. Like with a Mark VIII, I know that after 100k miles or 10+ years, the air suspension is suspect, upper and lower control arms will likely need to...

thinking of buying an Eldorado - need advice

I currently own a 94 Lincoln Mark VIII, and am contemplating my next car. Obviously, I like 2 door luxury sedans - and am thinking of a 92+ Eldorado. As a Mark VIII owner for the past year, I've learned a lot of the little annoyances one deals with when owning a used one. Can anyone provide a...

    Question about lights.

Only gen 2 Mark VIII's - 97 and 98 - had the neon tail light. All previous models are bulbed. I've heard that some 96 models had factory original HID's - that it was optional. However, I've never seen one. In fact, the only first gen cars I've seen with HID's were pics posted of cars where a...

    Plug Wire removal..

I just changed out plugs and wires on my 94, and the wires were date coded 1994. I'm not sure how old the plugs were, but shall we say they had a "rich patina". All my boots popped right off, and the plugs for the most part came out easily. Maybe your car has cooties.

    1994 Lincoln Mark VIII

I got the car in July of this year with 91k on it for 500 bucks. It was dirty, but straight and unmolested. It cleaned up nicely. The only mods I've done so far are removal of the silencers on the air intake system, and installing straight pipe in lieu of mufflers...oh - and a slightly modified...
