This is what the diagram looks like in an exhaust parts book at a store like NAPA. It is for exhaust replacement and it shows you all necessary parts (including clamps) with their respective part numbers, to get the job done. That's not to say a lot of shops wouldn't just weld the parts...

I'll throw in a quick response here - other than the gap that everyone has mentioned, the plugs/harnesses are different too. When I installed the 2nd Gen LSE bumper and 2nd Gen headlights on my old 02 LS, I had to modify the 1st gen harnesses by adding 2nd gen plugs. If I remember correctly...

Looks good - I have these same wheels but in a PVD finish and the stock Lincoln center caps fit pretty well. There's a tiny gap if you look really close, but pretty much unnoticeable....
