    Your opinion please

Forget the '90. Too much "old school" '80's mechanicals stuck under a newer TC body. Look for a '92 up so you get the 4.6 OHC engine coupled with an electronic 4 speed transmission - instead of the antiquated monkey-motion, pushrod relic that came with the '90's, along with that the old slushbox...

Looking For Air Bag Kit Front-back For 96 Town Car

Mark VII's and Mark VIII's had front air springs, but Town Cars didn't. If someone is trying to sell you front air springs then he/she is trying to con you.. Ohh, by the way they're "air springs"... To the Town Car fanatics, calling them "air bags" is a sure indication that you have no idea...

Help me pick a town car (please!)

AmericanAirSuspension.com sells great air compressors for $135 - if you need one. You can't go by what your read in Auto Trader - you're going to HAVE to go and examine the vehicle in person, drive it, pay a couple bucks to put the one you like up on a lift to look at the underside closely...

    Oil Pan Gasket Change?

Clean all around the block to pan areas to see EXACTLY where the oil seepage is coming from. Then - FIRST - see if all the pan bolts are tight. It's not uncommon on these engines to have the pan bolts loosen a bit to allow oil leakage. It may be as simple as re-tightening the pan bolts. If...

    looking for parts

Open the door, grab the outside edge and lift up to see if the hinge pin is worn. If it is, go down to NAPA and get a hinge pin for a F150 truck (most are the same diameter). Chisel the top off your old pin - then have a buddy hold the door steady while you drive out the old pin using the new...

    Wheel ?

Conti94; Your first post shows the oem "Lacy" wheels, they are NOT the same as those shown in 95ltc's post. Look again in the area just outside the cap. The "lace" is filled in. 95ltc's post seems to show those wheels that were Dealer installed options where the Dealer didn't like the oem Lace...

    Cartier questions

One of our Town Cars is a '96 Cartier. There was no "standard" rear vanity mirrors uless you bought the L version (limo with 6" longer wheelbase). There is no wood trim anywhere in the vehicle. It did come with dual exhausts, though. Also, my wife chose one of the "reserved for Cartier" colors -...

    adjusting air suspension

Look for the smae sensor that looks sort of like a minature shock on a rear suspension link. Loosen the bolt to move it up or down to get whatever change you want. The sensor tells the suspension computer to add or dump air to get the height correct....

    spark knock

Could be a number of things - but, first, clean the wires in your MAF!! Chances are it'll solve the problem...

    Rare TC Limited Edition

Yup, there are a ton of "Special Editions" that aren't all that special. A lot of dealers can (and do) concot whatever "Special Edition" that they think will sell well in their particular market place. For instance, I'm still waiting for the "God Father Edition " rumored to be soon released...

    GM going bankrupt?

GM will be closing 12 plants, not just 9. And they ARE in deep doodoo financially. Their bonds have been downgraded to Junk status now by all the Bond rating services - a real problem for not only GM as a business, but to the millions of GM employees that depend on their value for retirement...

    Brake noise

Same experience as TriumphGT6..except I prefer to replace the rotors if there is any sign of scoring rather than have them turned - new ones are not all that expense (typically $27-33 each) and it buys you longer brake life. A lot of auto parts shops will no longer turn brake rotors because of...

    check air suspension

Lower the ride height sensor on your rear axle all the way down on its bracket. If your ride height doesn't change then replace the sensor.

    check air suspension

Could be your ride level sensor is bad (it's the small "shock" looking thingy on your rear suspension)...

Venting Thread For Ford's Lincoln Decision

towncarss, I read your comment with much humor. You're wrong - I did have a "gun" to my head!! My wife looked at it, loved it, and did the "Pleeeease, Dear!!!" thing - much more potent then any gun. So I bought it for her - I still think it looks like a bloated Toyota. She loves it and drives it...

Venting Thread For Ford's Lincoln Decision

Read my post again, evillally!! We currently own _THREE_ Lincolns, two of which were purchased NEW! I've owned a total of 14 Lincolns in my lifetime, 9 of these were bought new directly from Lincoln Dealers! It's buyers like myself that have kept Lincoln going with the direct influx of hard...

Venting Thread For Ford's Lincoln Decision

If the majority of responses noted above are indicative of the level of maturity of the average Lincoln Town Car owner, then Lincoln is doomed to become just another model name. What Ford Motor company needs to hear is mature thinking and comments, not juvenile comments!! They NEED to...

    Polling Town Car Owners

We sold our '89 Gucci model, but still have a '94 Sig, a '96 Cartier and an '03 Sig. In the poll I voted '90's because they out number the '00's in our family. And I would add that, IMHO, '94 and the '96's are the better cars (quality wise, ride wise, etc) then the '03 we have (that, to me...

    Power problems 94 TC

One of our Town Cars is a '94 we purchased new and now has 167,000 miles on it. Some things you may want to do to improve milage, power and reliability is to Clean the EGR valve, use alcohol (or contact cleaner) to clean the 2 wires in the MAF unit, change the pcv valve, install new plugs and...
