Picked up car this morning and drove to and from work without issue. Thanks to everyone especially Joegr and Meecer.

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Well, been too busy between work and the move so I had my shop so it. Since their price was so good I had them install the new pump with actuator. The part I got off eBay looks new, thanks Meecer! I pick up the car tomorrow morning and will be heading to work so I'll let you know if that did the...

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

I'll definitely let you know. Changing the fluid helped initially but not anymore. In the morning I usually get most of the way to work before it calls for heat, but when I return in the afternoon it's hit or miss.

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

No, got the part a few days ago but I was right in the middle of moving. Not going to have time to do it myself so will get in shop Tuesday. In the meantime enjoying running the heat in 110 degree weather... Phoenix! Will post an update once installed.

Thanks for the info but I can't find a listing for a new pump, just several used ones?

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Okay, went to remove actuator per YouTube video I saw. Disconnected reservoir hoses and then discovered that I could not access it from the top line the guy did in the video (I guess his was a V6). Decided to have my shop do it and called the dealership to order the part. Found out the part was...

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Thanks Joegr and Meecer, I checked and I can get the Actuator with the pump ($270 with tax at local dealer). Will clean it and flush system first and see if that doesn't do the trick.

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Just called Ford, part on backorder, no one has one in entire country. Can I clean it and flush system?

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Short lived success. Overheated on way to work...fan not cycling. Actuator?

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Okay, thanks to determinedd and Joegr (who asked about the fluid initially) I used this really cool syringe I bought on Amazon and changed the fluid in the reservoir and voila the fan started cycling! Prior to this it was stuck on an intermediate speed AC or no AC. So we'll take it to work...

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Hmmm, the fluid doesn't look bad (not new but still pink and no water) but replacing it would be a less costly option...so definitely worth a shot! Already put a new belt on.

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Okay, short lived success. Runs all day long at 2000 or less, but go over that and the overheating begins. Was finally able to verify that the fan is not shifting to high gear. No leaks and no air. Run the heater and it will maintain normal temperature. Actuator? Fluid appears to be fine.

    2001 LS V8 Overheating

Okay all. Here is today's update. Went to check if fan was working properly per Joegr's suggestion. Topped off Degas and started. Ran AC the entire time. Took about to 5 minutes to get to normal (bottom side of middle line). No leaks and fan running normally. Let idle for 5 minutes with no...
