I would say the basic owner who has decided to go the DIY route after some time passing paying others to fix (and expired warranty) probably does not have all the right "tools" initially...my toolbox has expanded exponentially in the last 10 years! yup, that degas bottle removal will have you creating your own vocabulary that NO ONE wants to learn if you still have the factory hose clamps! The thermostat housing is easier, IMO... my DCCV is on order and in transit...I let the battery go dead nad when I replaced the degas bottle this...

Hey, it was my theory, however erroneous it may be! and 04_Sport_LS, appreciate the feedback, I've been under the hood of this car from 60-96k more than I was under my 99 Acura TL from 100-140k, and I beat the HELL out of that thing! I'm hoping for at least another year and a lottery win...

    GenII LS8 Cooling System Overhaul

our 03 V8 is going through the motions and we have about 96k on it (was my wife's daily commuter from '06-'14, until the throttle body dies on a high-speed tollway, stranding her and scaring her permanently on it, prompting the purchase of a newer vehicle, so I took over the LS)...I've replaced...

Thinking about making the first LS coupe. Should I go for it?

if memory serves me right (and it may not, so take this for what it is worth), dimensionally the 5.0 supercharged motor from the new XF will fit right in there as i think the blocks and heads are milled to the same external dimensions as the 3.9; it's the internals that are different, and, ECU...

Thinking about making the first LS coupe. Should I go for it?

Hey, if West Coast Customs can do it with the previous generation Charger (their modern General Lee), I say go for it, but they didn't shorten the wheelbase:

    2000 LS v8 buildup or 4.6 swap

we'll see, it may be a bit down the road when the economy gets better and we weren't currently under the possibility of any "position restructurings"...unless I win the lottery first! Heh It would be nice to hold that distinction, though, and if I find a way to make it all work, I will...

    2000 LS v8 buildup or 4.6 swap

tijoe, You've answered a lot about what I want to do with my wife's 2003 LS: I was hoping there were a few knowledgeable guys on here about interchangeability regarding the Jag AJ-V8s, as I would love to replace the 3.9 AJ35 (not really tired at all) with a 4.2 AJ34S or the 5.0 AJ133 (unsure...

2005 Lincoln LS V8 Sport Overheating Issue

Usually the degas bottle slowly rots and will not show signs of leakage, but if it's yellowed, replace it, then put a purge kit on the heater hose line, and purge from there with the bleeder open until all the air hisses out of it and you have a steady dribble...make sure the level at the degas...
