    Cleanest Continental ever

Listings can't be ended with under 12 hours left if there are bidders on it; if they are, the item is immediately sold to the highest bidder. What you're describing is called shill bidding, and is very much against eBay policy. Very hard to prove though sadly unless you can see behind the...

    Cleanest Continental ever

They don't care if you have 5 or 5000 feedback, if you so much as scratch your ass in the general direction of a buyer, you're thrown in the brig. I think back on all the things I've bought on eBay, from both no feedback individuals to people with thousands of stars, and I have never had an...

    Vehicle history check?

I would hope he was a smart owner and kept receipts of repairs, though if he traded it in he probably trashed it all. From his tone though, sounds like you're not gonna get much out of him. VIN checks only show maintenance if the mechanic(s) he was using reported it...though it doesn't hurt to...

    Cleanest Continental ever

I'm always up for some good old fashioned eBay bashing. I've sold everything on there from bath towels to bitcoins. The amount of seller complaints on the support forums should probably indicate a logistical problem with their practices, but apparently they make gold whenever they take a dump so...

    Vehicle history check?

No such thing as free VIN checkers sadly. A Canadian pal o' mine gets them free from work though. Might be able to help you out.

Had to call 911 on my car today.

Have never had this happen to a vehicle. Wouldn't think a Lincoln could catch fire like that, although stranger things have happened. If it's got 155k, it's hard telling what's been knocked around, overstressed, and otherwise worn over the years.

    Cleanest Continental ever

I'd be concerned about how often it's been driven. I looked at an immaculate thunderbird like this once that was garage kept and found it had a bone dry tranny. Little bit concerned that he insists the fluid under the car is condensation and that you don't have to ask about it...other than that...

    Araparts ignition coils?

I was tempted to buy some no name coils on eBay too, but I'd rather stick with names I've at least heard of. Probably going to go with the Summit coils too. I've read a few things about people buying random coils and having them fail within a year or two. Might want to keep an eye on that.

    handheld tuner?

A massive silencer box plus 2.25" pipes from the manifold all the way back to the split where it goes to 2"...and then slap some quiet-flow mufflers on the back; that's how you silence a v8. I'd like to get 2.5" pipes all the way through so I can fully utilize my horses.

WTB 98'-02' Continental passenger headlight assembly & bumper covers

I'm looking for a pristine 98'-02' headlight assembly for the passenger side. I've purchased two from salvage dealers so far with little luck on either one, so I've decided to take a smarter course of action and look in the enthusiast forums. I'm also looking for front and rear bumper covers...

    handheld tuner?

That's one of the things that discouraged me about tuning it up. There seems to be a lack of performance parts for the ol' Continentals; probably because there are so many other cars that are better suited for it. I suppose I'm forgetting why I bought it though...for it's comfort, reliability...

    handheld tuner?

Reliability is what I'm most concerned about. I'd like to get a little extra 'oomph' in the pedal. I hate it when it creeps to second. I think the ideas that they will increase mpg comes from claims of air/fuel ratio adjustment and more efficient burn rather than shift points. Still debatable...

    handheld tuner?

I just reignited this internal argument this morning...to tune or not to tune? I first started out with "I want better performance" and then went to "I'm not driving a sports car" and now I'm at "I want better fuel economy and responsiveness." My concerns are like all the rest I suppose; you...

    2000 Continental AUX?

If you absolutely can't stand the thought of installing a new head unit or are short on cash, you can go the cheap route and use something like a tape deck adapter. My gf has something like this she uses for her car. Just google 'tape deck to mp3' and you'll get plenty of results on where to get...

    Odd problem with power loss

I specifically asked them to check fuel delivery, and they claimed to run a code check. I'm not sure whether they have one of the $6000 portable diagnostic scanners, or simple handheld scanners. It's partially my fault for suggesting they check there, but they could have at least checked the...

    Odd problem with power loss

That would be another very likely suspect, although I haven't had the problem since that day. I haven't checked the coils since I bought the car, so it sounds like that could be it. Can maybe check them out after work today.

    Rear brakes rusted, be aware

I just got my car back from the shop to check out a 'whooshing' sound on medium deceleration along with slight steering wheel wobble. Turns out front rotors were warped and rear pads needed replacement. Gotta keep an eye on the little details.

Road Trip to USAF Tech training in MS - 2002 Continental

I've been curious about this for a while now. I attempted to replicate his piping on my '00 Continental, bringing everything into a local exhaust shop, and they basically told me it couldn't be done. Once you get under there, there's not a lot of space for much of anything other than what's...

    Odd problem with power loss

Had the shop check everything out; they basically concluded it was a 'ghost' issue and they would no longer pursue it. I did notice on my last tank of gas, I was getting around 18.4 average MPG, which is lower than usual for me. I had it back up to 19.9 after I pulled it into the shop though, so...

    2000 conti which oil?

Welcome to the club. I just use what's recommended in the manual; Motorcraft 5W-30. It's fairly cheap and you can get it pretty much everywhere, like Wal-Mart.
