Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

These are some pictures my recent "project" I replaced the beat up front licence plate bracket with a new Motorcraft unit. I tried to find a cheaper aftermarket one but I guess there isn't a big enough demand for them. Also put one some plate frames made from real carbon fiber off of eBay...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Damn my phone never notified me you replied. I will look into that transmission you mentioned. I need to start looking into a transmssion. I found someome local on ebay who rebuilds them for $650. My TCC code came back on Sunday. Pretty disappointed. I'm sure someone with enough skill in the...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

My town car does have a quieter ride...both road and air noise and has a sharper turning radius. It feels like I have to learn how to park all over again in the continental lol

About the transmission...I have read of multiple improvements made to the ax4n through the years. I think a lot of it has to do with driving style. For example, the 4r70w is the weak link in the mustangs but I know of countless crown vics/grand marquis/town cars and explorers hitting 300k+ miles...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

A family member had a 04 Deville DTS I was very close to buying. It was in mint condition but I just wasn't feeling the car. I knew the history of the car and knew of all of its problems but it just wasn't for me. The rear bags were very easy to replace. Easier than replacing coils because if i...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Well to tell you the truth...I would be lying if I said it being FWD didn't bother me because it does. But I understand ford wanted to make a direct competitor to the FWD Northstar cars. I wanted a Continental because I prefer the overall styling of the car and believe it or not, the...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Thanks man. Haha good point about running out of stuff to do. I have a few cosmetic things coming up but the biggest and last project for awhile will be shocks/struts and front suspension rebuild. I agree completely about the lack of interest these cars have. It's pretty sad. The moment you...

Thanks again Svets96. It nice hearing a compliment every once and awhile. Yeah the wiring was very time consuming but I think it was worth it.

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Thanks! Yeah the new crossover plug helps a lot and gives me Peace of mind when working with the coolant system. I have heard many horror stories regarding the crossover cap. Yeah I have been thinking of doing a ram air. We definitely have the room for it. I guess I will have to add my own...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Yesterday and today I installed a new head unit. Me and my wife wanted a bluetooth touch screen radio. I figured this would be the time to try out a cheap android unit. Its a quad core android radio with android 6 with navigation and a back up camera. I wanted to keep the steering wheel controls...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

To be be honest I never cared for the wheels my continental came with. I think it was a combination of the front siting higher than normal due to bad struts and the tires on the wheels not being the best looking. I decided to put on some wheels from my Mark VIII. After a week or so of having...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

As we all know, the transmission in these cars are the weak point. I was hoping just changing the transmission fluid and adding some trans tune by seafoam in the transmission would fix my transmission problem. It helped, the "check transmission" light took much longer to pop up as compared to...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

I had an evap engine light code on. I figured it was the evap hose that went to the throttle body so went ahead and replaced it along with the PCV breather hose with some braided line I had laying around. The light went away after doing this so another project went according to plan.

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

The next project took place May 29th. The front struts are blown so the car sits an inch or so too high in the front so I was able to see how ugly the fender liners were. I found new ones on Rock auto for pretty cheap so I went ahead and replaced them. They are not as well built as OEM so I...

Bringing my 2002 Lincoln continental back to life

Just a couple weeks after getting the car (may 7th according to my phone) I did a full tune up (plugs, fuel filter, torque bar[the engine mount on top of the engine]PCV valve) And also replaced the oil pan gasket and engine oil/filter along with new up stream O2 sensors, dropped the transmission...
