    Lincoln Ls bumper grille hatch

My 2000 V8 Sport had the hatch, but the stupid thing was - when you needed to tow the car out of a drift, you forgot it was there and still hooked underneath the car somewhere! Agree with the LS being a good snow car, just need good tires and they're great ON snow.

    Recroming your Headlights...A Different Way?

So have you tried them out at night yet? I did the chrome tape route, and still couldn't see jack at night. These cars are dangerous at night.

How often does this happen to you?

Think I got everybody beat on the asshat parking jobs; I occasionally pop into mall parking lots with a fast-food joint for lunch - with my work truck. It's a tri-axle dump-truck that takes up alot of room - about 6 parking spots. I try to be nice about it, parking way away from everybody...

My 95 to 99 Tranny Swap

FWIW, I got screwed years ago when buying a trans (brand new), that came too long. It was much less hassle to simply have a custom shaft made up. My suggestion is if you want to use that trans due to being a fresh rebuild, get a used shaft from the boneyard and have it chopped.

    One caliper not working?

Never thought about checking at the splitter, yep - I did replace the caliper myself (both rears last year), the old one wasn't working either - assumed it was frozen. It did bleed right initially though.... I may just replace the master cylinder just to be sure as well (have a spare)...

    One caliper not working?

What would cause one caliper not to work? The right rear, has a 'new' rotor, reman'ed caliper on it since last spring, just replaced a wheel bearing and noticed it isn't being used. As in rusty, no pad contact. Swapped hoses presuming that maybe the line had collapsed, but nope -...

    Who's car isnt facked?

Lower ball joint going, strut rod bushings going, steering rack going, rear hub going, 02's going, rusting rockers, lights suck, leather seats going, shifter knob badly worn, windshield cracked, sunroof leaking. This 94 is a turd, but it's relegated to a get-to-work beater. And my work is...

Steering racks? 96 Tbird Sport same as 94 Mark8?

Checked on Rockauto.com, they list the same part number. Tore the rack out of the 96 Tbird Sport model yesterday (parts car now), and there are 4 lines coming out. Do the Mark8's also have 4 lines? I believe two lines are for the cooler (the Tbird has one, not sure if the Mark8 does). Any...

Mustang v-6 averages 48.5 mpg; runs 1,457 laps at bristol on a single tank of gas

It's all in the techniques. I 'only' average 23mpg or so myself, but I drive it like it's a V8 personal luxury coupe - NOT a Prius. However, as an individual who has been somewhat trained (and has some common sense) in fuel saving techniques - I can say that close to 30mpg is very possible...

    Front end question??????

Nah, doubt it's a braking issue - also voting for strut rod bushings, probably the ones in the control arm. 2nd not buying Moog replacements, only use OEM Ford parts for that job.

    tierods

I use Rockauto.com and their online Catalog to cross-reference part numbers. Looks like the inners are the same, outers have different part numbers. At least you know one end of the outer has to work (to thread onto the inner), I can't see how much difference there could be in the 'ball...

cutting out, chugging search not working

Very similar problem on my 94, bucking, shuddering, shaking, horribly underpowered - virtually undriveable. Also only did this intermittently - it would act perfectly normal, then act up. Shift to "N", shut down, fire it up, back to "D", until it did it again. Chased down all sorts of...

Inner tie rod turns when installing outer tie rod?

Closest Ford dealer for me is 1/2 hour away now (had one 1/2 a minute away but they just closed). Their parts are too expensive anyways! Good to know that the inner one spinning isn't an issue, got a little concerned about that this morning. Talked with a mechanic today who let me know that...

Inner tie rod turns when installing outer tie rod?

Just put a new outer tie rod on the 94 Mark8, and have a concern about the inner tie rod. From what I understand, there is supposed to be a pin (to prevent turning?) on the inner. When installing the new one, I had to use a vicegrip on the inner's shaft to prevent it from turning as I...

    It only took 2.5 years

Somewhat of a lucky guess - brother is a mechanic by trade, suspected it was the computer. He could never access it via scan tools to diagnose the check-engine light, codes would dump immediately after shut off. He figured a 'new' computer would at least allow access to codes to figure out...

    It only took 2.5 years

To figure out wtf was wrong with my Mark. Had intermittent jerking/bucking/shuddering off and on for the two years we've been driving this 94. It sat all winter (wife was off work), and it wouldn't run properly come spring. Was ready to scrap it, my brother gave me crap - "Put a 'new'...

deep snow and crying like a baby!

Guessing most of you are not and have never been married? It's par for the course - wives break schete that men like. I do feel your pain though man, hopefully a simple fender replacement is all it needs. Do take that spark plug with you next time!

IAC, how much does brand matter?

I'll save you some trouble if you need to replace your IAC - spend the money up front on the Ford brand, rather than taking the risk of having to do the job again. I think changing the IAC and TPS on my Gen1 took about 5 hours to complete. Horrible, horrible job.

Pulling chrome trim. How do you do it without bending it,.

Even a 'good' maaco job that you pay about $2000 for is a :q:q:q:q paint job that you'll regret in 3 years. Learned that lesson, after 3 years and $3000 - I had a great paint job.

    spacers for LS wheels?

What do you mean by 'tuck' my 255's? As in - under the fender? I have no issues with fender rub if that's what you're asking, it's also lowered. Keep in mind that the Mark is a different car than the Cougar. Similar, but different. So I can't tell you 100% for sure they'll fit, although I...
