All the junk yards around here want less for the gen 2. Gen 1's here are 1200-1500 (110-150k) with gen 2's for 700-1050 with 70-90k miles.

I just want to swap in a low mileage engine to get it on the road. I bought it to have a decent DD. I want the gen two for the metal chain guides. The motor in the car now was destroyed by the plastic guides.

Looks like the intakes could be swapped out to resolve the issue. Unless the water jackets are different on the block you could mount the old system to the gen 2 aswell.

The way I see it I can buy the gen 2 engine and swap the intakes. CPU doesn't check for vtc in gen 1's so it shouldn't affect anything.... I would think.
