One day the car is running fine. Next day the Check Engine Light is on. Code says the IMRC is no good. Has anybody had this problem? Any solutions besides getting ripped off at the dealer?

'98 Cordovan color Collector's Edition with 2 tone tan interior, wood trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Looks and runs like new. Everything is original except stereo. Cassette head unit replaced with Pioneer CD and 10 disc changer replaced with Pioneer 12 disc. Kicker 8" subs on rear deck...
I've had this car for almost 10 years but I'll still be a member because I also have a '98 LSC CE.
This car is black/black, needs paint but the interior is excellent. 121K on the clock but it drives much younger. It has Chrome '96 LSC wheels, Pioneer head unit with 12 CD changer, pretty good...
My '98 with 69K started hesitating and then the CE light came on. My shop changed the plugs, fuel filter, and air filter and tried to clear the codes from the computer. No luck. Running just as badly and the CE is still on.
Any suggestions?
I took '98 LSC CE with 59K in for a tranny fluid change (I have the shudder problem) and the tech told me there's no drain plug on the torque converter. How can you get the fluid out of the converter if there's no plug? Does anybody else have a car with no plug or is mine a freak?
Does anybody know if Lincoln used the same JBLs in both gens. I find the sound better in the '94 than the '98. I'm talking about the original systems before mods.
My '98 CE collects water in the passenger side headlight. Besides looking terrible I'm afraid it will short out the HID bulb. Has anybody had experience with this problem?
