One day the car is running fine. Next day the Check Engine Light is on. Code says the IMRC is no good. Has anybody had this problem? Any solutions besides getting ripped off at the dealer?

'98 Cordovan color Collector's Edition with 2 tone tan interior, wood trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Looks and runs like new. Everything is original except stereo. Cassette head unit replaced with Pioneer CD and 10 disc changer replaced with Pioneer 12 disc. Kicker 8" subs on rear deck...
I've had this car for almost 10 years but I'll still be a member because I also have a '98 LSC CE.
This car is black/black, needs paint but the interior is excellent. 121K on the clock but it drives much younger. It has Chrome '96 LSC wheels, Pioneer head unit with 12 CD changer, pretty good...
My '98 with 69K started hesitating and then the CE light came on. My shop changed the plugs, fuel filter, and air filter and tried to clear the codes from the computer. No luck. Running just as badly and the CE is still on.
Any suggestions?
The same thing happened to me when I put subs on the rear deck on my '94. So I moved the compass module to the floor of the trunk, all the way back behind the rear seat. It took a few days but the compass finally woke up.
This was about 5 years ago and the compass has worked fine ever since...
'93 Totaled
The '93 thru '96 have a very low air intake. If water was sucked into the engine, forgetaboutit. I blew the engine in my '93 driving through a bad storm and bought my '94 with the insurance money

I took '98 LSC CE with 59K in for a tranny fluid change (I have the shudder problem) and the tech told me there's no drain plug on the torque converter. How can you get the fluid out of the converter if there's no plug? Does anybody else have a car with no plug or is mine a freak?
Does anybody know if Lincoln used the same JBLs in both gens. I find the sound better in the '94 than the '98. I'm talking about the original systems before mods.
When it happens get out and see which bulb is not blinking. Then check the contacts in the socket and the wires leading to it. If it works sometimes it's not a bulb.
Correct way to set factory alarm
With the door open either hit the lock button on the door or the lock button on the remote, once. The green light on the dash that blinks when you open the door will stay on for about 30 seconds and then the alarm is set. If you're getting false alarms check...
I second the motion
These cars are basically so wonderful I don't understand the reason for some of the mods I see on this forum. I love them so much I have two of them. The black '94 is fast and beautiful with 117K miles and still going strong. I also stuck with the 16" tires but chose...
