The silver side moulding is pitted , discolored, and protective plastic covering is peeling from years of Minnesota winters. Is this something that can be bought and reinserted in the moulding ??

Has anyone had this problem. The gas gauge reads empty unless tank is full , then it reads just under 1/4. I can live with this, since electronic readout is fine, but is this an easy (cheap) fix ???
