It turned out to be the gray connector on the trans. A few pins were broken and a few more fused/melted together. Replaced and all is good.
Thanks anyhow....
I just installed a 97 Mark VIII trans into my 96. I got the trans from a friends wrecked 97 that had less than 50k on it. I know that the transmission was in perfect running shape at the time of the crash earlier this year. I also installed a 99+ J mod vb and Marauder torque converter from BOC...
I clearly read in that article that the proper mount is from a 96 GT auto, not a Cobra. He did not say Cobra anywhere in his posts......

:I
The Chicago cops have already tagged my car as either a drug dealer's or a gang-banger's ride. When I got my 97 when I was 18, I had the windows tinted. Boy was that ever a mistake. My record for getting pulled over and searched was 5 times in the same day. By the third time it happened...
I didnt think about oiling the cylinders with MMO, I will have to do that.
I actually have been alternating what I do each time I start the car. Every other time I start it I take it for a trip around the block to get it up to operating temperature (and take off about 5,000 miles wear on the...
Ok, so the trans died on my Mark a few weeks ago. It will skip second gear unless I manually shift it into 2. I have already been in contact with Darrin at BC about getting a replacement. A few things have come up and I wont have the cash for a few months. I have a garage to store the car in and...
I thought I remember reading someplace that somebody is selling valve bodies with the Jmod already done. I would do it myself but I would rather spend the cash for somebody more experienced to do it. For the life of me, I cannot seem to find the post I saw it on.
Do what I did. Put the bracket in a vise or hold it with something that wont transfer heat to your hands, put a vise grip on the slider pin, and heat the bracket with a torch until the grease/rust melts and frees the pin. A new set is less than 8 bucks at any AP store.
Ive seen Marks towing small trailers before.
I worked at an RV Dealer for a summer a few years back. A little old lady went out and bought a brand new 02 S-10 4.3 2wd regular cab and wanted to tow a 32' 5th wheel camper with it. Last I heard she was still running the same setup, just not real...
I pass it every day. They want $1200 out the door. If I remember right, I think its a 94 and the car has about 165k on it.
There was also one much like it sitting for sale on Hawthorne ave in West Chicago, not far from Diamonds. Much cleaner and it was only 1750.
Well it appears that 13 years of rust and corrosion havent been too kind to my emergency brake cables. A small bolt cutter took care of that....
To say the least, I did not remember how good the traction control is in these cars..... I cant believe how much better the car stops now even...
I checked the chiltons but it sucks. Ive been thinking about getting a subscription to alldata for my mark, I just didnt know if they had info on this car or not.
I got the calipers this afternoon from a friend of mine who works at a local parts warehouse. He got me a pair of remanufactured...
Thanks guys. Looks like Ive got a siezed caliper on my passenger side rear along with all 4 frozen caliper sliders. Seems that these back brakes havent been changed in a while. I also just realized how big a POS the "cube" tool is. Works great for little jap cars, just not this. I bought the...
