2000 Lincoln ls 3.9 no subwoofers in trunk?

Hello all, I was looking for my subs, I see cutouts with foam on either side of the trunk deck where oval speaker/subs would fit, but no wiring or amp or subs. I have the selectshift oil cooler model. Did some of these cars come without subs? I know there was a audiophile option, but I thought even the normal option came with a sub.

If not, how would I go about wiring a sub? Can I splice into a speaker wire and run it back there?

2000 3.9 sport 60k. I ordered some 6x8 speakers, will be attempting to replace both front speakers as well as they are very buzzy. Will try to remember to post pictures.

My 05 sport doesn't have the subs either, I think it was an option or part of the ultimate package.
I'm sure you could just wire them in, I doubt they have different wiring harnesses between the sub models.
