Pcm question

I have a 97 LSC and I have the incorrect gear indicated check engine light, I've narrowed it down to the PCM, my buddy has a 97 parts car that has a production date of 4 months newer than mine, his PCM is blx3 mine is rkk3, will it still work? is a base so I don't know if that's any different from an LSC

Have you changed the MLPS? Any 97 computer will work.
