I just fab mine after replacing this a couple times, made it out of aluminum tubing with flared ends to support the hosing and clamps to hold a seal. Now with all the heat cycles over time it will not crack. I'll take a pic later of it.

I have to same problem with the rod that connects to a flap for the cabin air filter has broken in my 06. It seem to be a common problem with the plastic bracket which is one piece part of the flap, over time breaks. I haven't had time to address the issue yet on my car.

Your pervious issues was the same problems I had. I replace oem coils, throttle body, egr / map sensor, tps and so on. Sent my pcm out for repair and it correct my problem. As for an firmware update you would have to visit your local ford / lincoln dealer to reflash your pcm. Hopefully you will...

You may want to pressure test the system for any leaks / cracks in your coolant system that will cause overheating issue. This will save a lot of time as well if issue continues. I was in the same situation as you and found a lot of leaks including the heater core which wasn't fun to replace.
