I did what you suggested and somebody had been in there before, and had put the rubber gasket on top of the plate between that and the big blue ring, rendering it useless. put it back in place, filled it up, no more leaks. Super easy job compared to dropping the tank. Again, thanks a bunch!

part number for fan pump solinoid just got one from ebay took three days free shipping part number is XW4Z 3783 CA. but i did not need it to order the part just had to call it hydraulic fan pump actuator. it was 140 bucks from fairway ford in ohio through ebay. 2000-2002 ls v8. hope this helps
