For Sale 1998 Midnight Grey Mark VIII in Southern Louisiana

Brett! Good to hear from you man. Yes, kept her and now at 147k miles but driving it more b/c sold the Honda and using the truck for pulling trailers, etc. Friday, I put about 200 miles on the clock which would have been on the Honda. The new wheels are beautiful and with the lowering...

Likely Alternator Failure 98 Mark VIII

I wish all alternators were that easy to replace! Even with putting tools away and testing I was under one hour. The old one would make bearing noises when spun after I got it off so it was definitely a goner. As if the video I made a couple of weeks ago of my volt meter having 12 volts not...

Considering A Mark VIII? (Thinking Out Loud)

Soduka’s post on Dec 13th was a spot on SHORT answer as well as 93Mark8rules that followed but here is my long answer. I currently own three cars down from 5 four years ago. I am a single guy, no kids and I used to rotate the insurance on my vehicles depending on the time of year and what I...

Likely Alternator Failure 98 Mark VIII

Soduka: Good idea. I still need to check my factory warranty. OnlyTony: Checked the clamps but didn't know about the rectifier screws. Thomas A: Thanks for the info. If this one doesn't work out ... I was planning on doing the alternator this New Years weekend with 70 degree F weather...

Likely Alternator Failure 98 Mark VIII

After work I made 5 stops on the way home. That is common for me. After the last stop and about two miles away from home I get a beep and 'Check Traction Control'. 15 seconds later I am at a light turning left and get 'Check Charging System' and I notice my dash lights are a bit dim. Two...

Lost door controls and now get a data error

Here is a picture of the fuse box with an extra 30 amp fuse. My mechanic replaced the 30 amp that was bad and he also put an extra one in there in case it happens again. So if any of you guys have the same issue as I did, start with checking that green fuse. It's been 2-3 weeks and no problem...

    Can't find replacement ABS sensors

At least you can find sensors listed or at least some in stock. When my rear sensors went out on my 98 it was a nuisance finding replacements. It took about 4-6 months if I remember correctly and got them off Ebay from a Mark guy who knew what he had. He didn't stick me hard with the cost but...

    Water leak passenger side?

FOLLOW UP: This weekend we had rain both Saturday and Sunday. Light in morning Saturday and nothing the rest of the day. Saturday night I checked the car and all was fine. Sunday it started raining about 10am and went on and off all day. Light to medium rain is as hard as it came down but...

Lost door controls and now get a data error

PROBLEM FIXED!! I checked the fuse on the drivers side (the one that is in the dashboard area) and the fuse was good. I brought it to my mechanic and picked it up Friday. It was a FUSE! He was surprised I hadn't checked it b/c we go back 30 years and I have 3 cars that I drive and do A LOT...

Lost door controls and now get a data error

No, I was 40 miles from home when the problem occurred and I simply took a replacement fuse from the holder and put it in. That said, the replacement fuse could be faulty as well. Hmm, I HOPE it is as simple a fix as a fuse. Maybe, just maybe, my replacement fuse was not good. I will test it...

    Water leak passenger side?

This thread is three months shy of 5 years old so I am going to hi-jack it. Every time I searched for passenger water leak, this thread came up. From the research I did on this and other forums, I would agree with Marcus. Here is what I had on my passenger floorboard after a decent rain...

    Radioquastion in my LSC -1998

In the U.S., I have not seen any radios that get the even number after the decimal. Now that I think of it, when I lived in the U.K., I forgot how those radios are programmed. I'm guessing in Sweden the radios manufactured in your market are able to show the even numbers?

Lost door controls and now get a data error

I sure did and it wasn't the fuse. Since it is now dark in the evenings when I get home, I am going to need to take it to my mechanic at this point. I was able to fix the leak of the water running into the passenger floorboard (at least I think I did) by fixing the foam strip on the bottom of...

Lost door controls and now get a data error

Thanks slowmkviii. If the rain holds out tomorrow, I will remove the door panel and see what I can find. I also noticed I do not have interior lights when I open the door thus another sign a wire was cut (likely a ground b/c all functions have ceased) or the door switch is going awry.
