Gen 2 Coolant Temp and Fan Operation

Title says Gen 2…it’s a V8. I also said I found my answer.

    Weird Cooling Incident

My ‘04 V8 with 303k miles has been running fantastically. Yesterday, I was driving up to my mom’s house and was caught in usual SoCal traffic. We were crawling (5-10 mph) up a slight hill and the outside temp was 79. I usually have my OBD2 reader going to monitor things like temperature. When...

Gen 2 Coolant Temp and Fan Operation

To start, my car is not overheating! All of the cooling system parts have been replaced at least twice over the life of the car. My question relates to the functioning of the cooling fan, the A/C system, and cooling temp. I periodically connect my iPhone to the car through a Bluetooth OBD2...

Rear Lower Control Arm Availability and Compatibility

I get annoyed when people don't follow up on how or what they ended up doing to "fix" a problem. So... I ended up getting these rear LCA arms off of Amazon. I was fairly impressed with the quality of the bushings and the arm itself. We will see how long they last. I am keeping the existing...

Rear Lower Control Arm Availability and Compatibility

I have a very annoying squeak from my driver's side rear end. I used a mechanics stethoscope and am fairly certain it is coming from the LCA. I sprayed some silicon lubricant into the bushings and the terrible squeak has receded. Looking on RockAuto, there are Mevotech arms for a 2003...

    Aluminium Degas Bottle

Even the true Motorcraft degas won’t last. I installed a new bottle several years ago and it only lasted 3-4 years. I now have an aluminum bottle and installed working fabulously!

Change the Coils… not always the answer

I realize this is a 6 month old thread but my understanding about the coils going bad was predominantly from the coils getting wet from the windshield cowl not diverting water to the sides. Again, my "understanding" is from hearsay from other LS owners and experts. Edit: Maybe not hearsay...

How can I check parts compatibility between Lincoln and Jaguar?

You can double check parts on Rock Auto. Look up the part you need, and then look to see if the same part is under a 2000-2000 Jag S type. A lot of the suspension and engine parts are the same.

04 LS V8 harmonic balancer questions.

Looks good! Double check that those chain tensioners are all good! Make sure to clean off all the old oil drips so you can make sure you aren't leaking any more. This may go without saying but make sure you torque the front cover per the manual. And yes, the power steering pump and bracket...

04 LS V8 harmonic balancer questions.

Rockauto has balancers. There is also a vendor that rebuilds balancers that folks have had good success with. I had a small annoying oil leak that was from the front cover of my 2004 LS. I eventually replaced the front cover gaskets and have been leak free for the past 2 years. It is an...

Be forewarned, even the Motorcraft parts aren’t lasting. My new Motorcraft degas bottle only last ~50k miles, if that. I now have an Al bottle…
