If the fan runs loud, it is overheating. Mine did it for years before chucking the stupid thermostat in the trash and retrofitting an old 195` 390 FE one I had floating around. Took three thermostats and two housings before chucking it.
Blown 4.2 in my '07 XKR uses an aluminum housing and the...
After 5 years and almost 50k miles it's time to move on. The LS has been replaced twice, with a '07 Jaguar XKR by me and a '14 Cherokee by my son and is looking for a new home if anyone is interested in another one.
2005 Lincoln LS
I do have an SCT tune for it and the factory manuals...
Yep, my '07 XKR with the blown 4.2, ZF6 and 3.31 rear pulled 29 mpg running 70 mph a couple weeks ago. It drops to 25 ish at 80 and 23 at 90. In spite of my hooligan mode around town still pulls 19 mpg average.
If I ever went back to an LS I'd do a body swap to a S type R and really have an...
Yeah, it's pretty expensive, $1600 or so. Looks like the Jag '07 is the same as the 2nd gen LS carrier just has an aluminum cover with cooling fins and an air scoop. The Quaife unit is the only one that fits. Kind of a bummer because off the line the car really needs a locker, especially if...
So, after having my '05 LS taken / bought from me by my son I went Mustang shopping and ended up with a '07 Jaguar XKR a couple months ago. 4.2l V8 with an Eaton on top making 420 hp and torque. I got it for about 15% of it's $86k new price and it needed some love.
Naturally there is a...
Ditto, it's a basic Euro copy plastic fantastic without a Euro following. What is interesting is the lack of interest in '94-'04 Mustangs. It appears that they suffered the same black sheep stigma as the Mustang II's. The stuff before and after performed better.
The LS is an interesting car...
My LS sport will walk the dog on a 5 speed. Heck, it doesn't have problems walking the dog on other LS's.
To me, just the exhaust note on a V8 trumps the manual tranny in a V6 car.
Given the age of the 1st gens and the dearth of inexpensive parts I wouldn't be looking for one. I'm probably...
So, spent some time doing the swap. Overall not too difficult. My strut bolts didn't want to come out so I had to bend the mounting tab to get the new bottle in place. While the car was on the stands and I was changing the oil I popped the radiator cover off and was amazed at how clogged the...
LSfrank nailed it.
I also noticed that the Autozone replacement had the sensor poop on mine at 1 year old and the Timkin on from NAPA is still rolling along without issue. The difference in price was less than the cost of the replacement sensor...
Looks like I'll finally be banging this job out this week. My oldest son is buying the car form me as he fits in it better than most other cars and I usually run the Harley to work instead of the car. Anyway, the degas was doing the stealth leak, ran the coolant low and left him on the side of...
It has potential, but do you expect to have your car long enough to need another motor? I'd be more concerned about it's history than anything else. If it was plastic wrapped for all this time it's probably in pretty decent shape inside.
On mine the cable from the isolation box to the front of the car had the teflon like insulation between the signal wire and the ground sheath shrink allowing the sheath to ground out the cable. I fought it for a while and ended up splicing in another section of cable to get decent reception...
The reason you don't run the AC is because of water out of the condenser drain will get you flagged off the track if they see it and can cause problems if it drains at either end of the track as the cars CG shifts around.
It's not really a performance thing but a safety thing.
