To mholhut and Fla02LS, Thanks for your input. I went today and shopped for tires. Got the best price from my local Lincoln dealership for the Goodyear Ultra Grip GW3's I wanted.

I've been told that higher profile tires are better for winter driving. Can I use LS 16" rims with 225/55/16 snow tires to replace my 17" rims with 235/50/17 tires? I think the overall diameters of both is close but will I have any clearance problems? High performance is not a winter requirement...
