I used some touch up on the front bumper and fender for my 96 toreador red. I bought it from someone online that claimed it was a 2 step process. I should of just left the 2nd topcoat off. It turned it too dark. (I was working in an open shed and the wind was messing with it to just lightly...
Well, I found out what was causing my clunking noise. It was the right sway bar link to sway bar nut had backed off! I went ahead and installed a strutmaster spring kit regardless. I have 2 arnott front air shocks 2 yrs old, 2 rear airsprings 4 yrs old and all original solenoids and front height...
I replaced the front air shocks a couple of yrs ago and a knocking noise developed. I thought I had it fixed by replacing one sway bar link but the noise came back a couple of weeks later. Replaced the sway bar bushings and thought that made a difference for a week or so. I think the noise may...
I finally got rid of my clunk in my 96 lsc. I replaced the sway bar bushings. There was a little bit of play on one side with the original bushings. I had replaced that side's link and that helped for awhile (maybe one week). I replaced original bushings with some carquest blue urethane style...
Here's a url of working on the motors. I copied one of the pictures and circled the brass strip that needs to be soldered.

I have used 3 different hid kits. I have them retrofitted to my 96 hid housings my sons 93 mark and a 94 Crown Vic. I finally did wire in a relay for more consistent lighting of the hid's. Without the relay I might get only one bulb lighting up because of the automatic headlamp switch sending...
I want to share a secret I found out today working on my own mark viii. My passenger side seat wouldn't go forward and back all the way without waiting for it to cool down. It would run out of steam very fast and autoglide may put the seat forward but not back. I tried cleaning the bushes in yrs...
That's the one I texted when the whole car was for sale and he never returned text. Found out later he was parting it out. Said the engine was sold. Said in the original ad the engine might be bad. Do you know what was the matter with why it wouldn't run?
Perhaps it is something to do with material from the pad embedding in the rotor. I'm extremely easy on braking and have had problems on my Vics and with my 83 Ranger in the past. Never wore out the pads, only had to turn rotors to get good pulse free braking.
I've sort of resorted to replacing rotors on my own cars instead of turning them (we have a nice Bendix at work) for longer rotor life. On my 94 Crown Vics with turned rotors I could only get 5k miles before I start to notice it slightly. With new rotors I can stand it for up to 30k miles. My...
Sapperfire. Don't tell me about oil pressure switches leaking! We were taking my son to college and he was behind in his 93 Mark VIII and we were waiting for the follow me vehicle on the road about 15 miles from home and he called us and told us he smelled something. I went around the flag man...
One might have had to remove the wheels, brake calipers, and disconect the abs wheel sensor wiring, deal with the p/s lines, etc. and deal with the upper strut mountings and associated lines and wiring to the solenoids or lower shock bolts and undo the upper control arm ball joint in order to be...
I just got done replacing my oil pan gasket without removing the oil pan all the way. I've done this for yrs (I'm a mechanic) on 5.0's and 4.6 in vics, etc. but this is the first time on a mark viii. Here's what I did. Removed alternator and supported engine with cross brace and lifted slightly...
