Thanks! There's not much to see right now.. looks OE at the moment, there's no dress-up goods at all. Take a look at my welcome wagon thread and don't mind the wires:

Progress, Sort of
I've got gas!
In my cylinders that is. I removed and prepped the TC injectors for installation into the Mark engine, as I was testing the solenoids with some test leads to make sure they were all kicking, it occurred to me to do the same to the Mark injectors. So I did the...
I'm Baaaaaaacck!
I've been gone for a month and this build has been sitting in the garage for two, which is at least 4 weeks too much. This thing needs to run.
When I had someone else crank the engine for me, I listened to each of the injectors with my stethoscope to detect any solenoid...
Sweet! I love me some insider knowledge. I wonder what ever became of those examples...
Thanks for the pointers mespock! Have I encountered a fellow Trekkie?
Project Hiatus
Thanks gents.
I've got someone coming over tomorrow so I'll be able to tell whether or not any of the injectors are firing while the engine cranks, but after that my main focus for the next week will be ramping up for a monster road trip out to the Bonneville Salt Flats for...
Good to hear that your oil is clear, but just because you didn't throw a rod doesn't mean it's not engine related..
I agree with some of the previous posters, 200k is a lot of cycles for chains, tensioners and guides.
Good luck with the starter bench test!
So the engine isn't even turning over? If the car is in a place that you can tinker with it and you're authentically concerned that you've got a failure on your hands, drain the oil and have a look for metal bits.
Starter could've quit too. I had one go a few years ago in a Jimmy Johns...
A valid point. I've got two ground straps hooked up to it, but I haven't thought to check the resistance between the block and the main ground cable. I'll add that to the list, thanks.
It would take a helluva hit, but what if the "bell housing" part of the transmission got deformed and pressed up against the flywheel? That would tend to put the brakes on things pretty quick.
And if the oil pan got hit, what are the chances of the oil pickup tube or windage deflectors...
Fuel pressure has always been good, but I'm not 100% sure the injectors are firing. As stated in the original post, they appear to be getting a pulsed signal, but I have yet to get a buddy over here to crank the engine while I listen for the solenoids with my stethoscope. Also, I've got the #3...
The thing is, XJS' are pretty competitively priced with Mark VIIIs, especially non "facelifted" versions. I've seen near-mint bodied First Gen V12 XJS' go for $1000 because they have blown head gaskets. it would be a sensational car to put Ford power into. It's on my Bucket list.
While I...
Small update
Well, that's reassuring, as the car will crank 'til the cows come home.
Didn't get to do much tinkering this weekend, but this evening I went out to test the signal to the coils.
As I stated earlier, both coils have the proper 12V in the Run and Start ignition positions...
@ Maverick, Thanks! I've had the Mark engine for almost 4 years now, but the actual rebuild itself didn't start until about a year ago. These things can take time when it's a one man show.
I went with the 4.0 6cyl in the Jag since I wanted it as a daily driver, not so much as a weekend toy...
@Snapperfire Not exactly- I know they're getting 12V in "run" but I haven't watched the voltmeter on either of the coil driver wires with the engine cranking. I'll check that ASAP after work, thanks.
@UltimateSVT: Not much to look at currently, I was aiming for an Original Equipment look and I definitely attained it- Only a Mark/modular guru will be able to tell the difference when I'm done.
