Poor gas mileage. Bad short term fuel trim

Good luck. How long have you been running the proper fuel now? Running regular would retard timing somewhat to prevent detonation, but I don't know how bad that would affect MPG efficiency.

    Roseann Rosanadana's grandmother was right

Hey there George, my LS suffered that same issue with the dead window switch. Long ago. I replaced it with a two-way rocker switch that almost looks OEM! Otherwise, it would be a DDM replacement.

Severe Uncommanded alignment/steering changes, need help

I know that some have pulled the engine of these machines through the hood, but the service manual says that you need to drop it out of the bottom of the car with the entire front subframe. That subframe bolts to the body with 4 long bolts. If they followed the manual, they disturbed those...

Poor gas mileage. Bad short term fuel trim

Bank 2 is left side, correct? Check your plugs in that case, look for one or more that are wet, just to rule out an overfueling issue. It is starting to sound like possible O2 upstream sensor issues, if we do have them. If you have an infrared thermometer, check your cats for consistency...

    Alternator or battery?

Yikes. I just paid 3.589 for 93 octane this morning in MA. And my LS days are over. Time to sell the Getrag for parts or whatever. I now own 3 boosted Subarus lol.

    Alternator or battery?

Hey George, that 17.0 mixed seems pretty normal for our getrags. The best I ever got on the highway was around 22, but it was usually 21 or 20 when I was checking. Had you seen better numbers in the past? I used to see a 1 or 2 mpg improvement after a spark plug change.

Oh man, you've got that right! Subaru hub bearings are a trip!

    Weird Problem

Nah you're good. I must have missed your water pump in the earlier list you published, and thought I had only seen the aux water pump. You're good.

    Weird Problem

While you are at it, replace your main water pump. It sounds like it may have lost its impellor. Mine did on a V6, and the engine lost either a head gasket, cracked a head, or cracked a cylinder wall while I was troubleshooting it. When I moved my 'lifetime' warranty water pump to my replacement...

    New question

How is this engine for bleeding air from the upper bleed port? Does it act normally and generate good stream flow when opened up to bleed? Reason I ask is that when my engine went south on my V6, the problem ended up being the impeller had fallen off the water pump, where you would not see it...

    Pilot bearings

If anyone is interested, my 2000 is actually available if anyone needs it for any reason, be it parts, restoration, etc. And there is a good pilot bearing buried in there! Also a functioning hydraulic cooling system, a good transmission (replaced at around 180k), a completely re-bushed rear...

    Pilot bearings

I have one, it comes with the complete car!

    Bleeding nightmares...

Every single leak I experience after engine cooling system work is always from a worm hose clamp. And I know I got them tight when I installed them. They still get loose. I find the same thing with my turbo hose clamps on my wrx-s. Every oil change, check and re-torque is my routine. I try to...

    New problem

My actuators always failed when it was in the 90s outside. Sounds like a conversion to electric fan would be indicated. As you say, that fan is not spinning fast and it should be spinning fast when it is hot outside and the a/c is running. So probably the fan change and the plastics renewal...

    Tired rod ends.

Just find the shortest alignment shop drive and get the car there asap. If it is not a short trip, have it towed, unless you want your tires to be toast in short order, because they will be! And to clubairth, he said it was clicking, so slop in the ball joints of the tie rod end. It may have...
