Guinness- I understand what you mean- right around 40 mph, when you try and go WOT in drive you dont get that downshift and hard "snap". When you floor it around 40 it just stays in that gear and climbs into the powerband without the hard downshift you get anywhere before that.
if you cut out the third cat def. put in an X pipe. It should be slightly louder than a base model with a y pipe.
Here is a short clip of my straight piped LSC with all cats in tact.

here is a youtube video of my 98 LSC with straight pipes welded in place of the factory muffler. Stock tips were welded on too. I still have all 3 cats.

My friend is selling his 1999 SVT Cobra, he wants a Supra that is for sale and needs to sell his Cobra.
I have been in the car numerous times and it rides good and sounds amazing.
the car:
-74,500 miles
-Black on black - leather interior which in is mint condition
-Changed the front...
Here are a few clips of my car with stock LSC piping with straight pipes welded in place of the mufflers with stock tips. Sounds awesome IMHO..

I have had the car for over a year now. All stock. Installed the LMS chip 6 weeks ago, and have the LMS MAF shipping next week. Exhaust is coming soon as well: deleted 3rd cat, SS 2.5" X-pipe, 2.5" mandrel bent into SLP Loudmouth II mufflers.;)
Here are some recent pics of my 98 Silver Frost LSC. The night ones are blurry I know, but actually look kinda cool. My LSC currently has 76,500 miles on it.
I am buying the SLP Loudmouth II mufflers (basically resonators) from my friend who has them on his 99 cobra. He is re-doing his exhaust and is getting Loudmouth I mufflers. He is selling them to me for $100. I would be looking at $200 shipped if I bought them online. They are stainless steel so...
you've inspired me. i've been thinking about bullitts lately, a nice set of chrome 18's with deep dish on the rear wheels on my silver frost LSC. gotta love bullitts on these cars, adds a real muscle element to the look of the mark VIII
has anyone ever head SLP Loudmouths on a Mark VIII? I always wondered how these would sound on our Mark VIIIs. I would imagine it would be pretty loud with a 2.5" catback with no third cat and an x pipe. I know our cars are different exhaust wise from a cobra, but my friends 99 cobra has a UPR...
Well after all your responses I feel more confident going with a 2 1/2 system. This wont be happening until the summer but I already ordered an x pipe. Flowmaster original 40s are next, then I just have to worry about taking it to a shop near me and getting the system done.
