Rear Air Spring Conversion . . bypass questions

I believe the 2000 Conti suspension is the same as the 2002 Conti that I have. There are air springs in the rear only. I replaced the leaking air bags on the rear of my 2002 with steel coil replacement springs. The replacement had no noticeable affect on the car's ride. "I would not do bags...

Rear Air Spring Conversion . . bypass questions

If you put in rear coil springs and don't touch or change any wiring, the steering modes will remain operative. If you modify the wiring to eliminate the "check ride control" dash message, you will only have the normal steering mode.

Rear randomly leaks down overnight... 00 conti

When my '02 conti started to leak, I replaced the air springs with Strutmasters coil springs. The ride quality remained the same. If you leave all the other air ride components in place and connected, Strutmasters furnishes a wiring diagram on how to modify the wiring under the rear seat to...

    Acceleration tweaks...

My 2002 Conti has old time throttle cable. 3.56 is the only final drive gear ratio I know of. Be aware, the transmissions on these things have been a weak point over the years.

What did you do to your Continental today?

Well done. Looks more "heavy duty" than the factory version.

Ignition Lock Cylinder or PATS ?

The ignition in my '02 Continental locked up and would not turn. It was a little biddy ball and small spring that came apart. The spring fell out of the hole that it sat in, and jammed between the lock cylinder and the part that turns. I know a Conti is not a LS – but it does show it can be a...

    locksmiths

Its been a long time since I played with the ignition switch. So -- From what I remember - When the key is put into the ignition switch, the ignition switch "halo" energizes the electronics in the key head. The transceiver reads the data it receives from the key. It checks the data from the...

    Fuel issues

We don't get real cold, but even on a cool morning, mine starts right up. My replacement pump was also a Delphi unit. As usual, these days, there can be many different reasons that can be the problem. The first one I think of is the fuel system is not holding it's pressure after sitting for a...

2000 LS v8 no power to fuel pump

CRC, WD40, and a bunch of others make electrical contact cleaners. Spray on and use a tooth brush to rub, scrape and clean the socket contacts and the fingers of the fuses, relays, etc. I would replace all the fuses and relays with new ones. They are cheap. I would also try to find what is...

    oil pressure

You're not going to get an oil pressure reading until all of the many internal oil passages and filter are completely filled with oil. With the system completely filled with oil, the rotating oil pump will suck oil from the sump and discharge it into the internal oil passages and filter. The...

2000 LS v8 no power to fuel pump

There is no need at this point to be screwing around with wiring, jumpers, and fuel pumps. The car was starting and running. Suddenly the car doesn't start. The battery is sitting at 11.74VDC. 11.74VDC is a DEAD battery. A battery doesn't have to read 0VDC to be completely dead. No wonder...

2000 LS v8 no power to fuel pump

Another thing to keep in mind is with all the water damage you could also be experiencing corrosion that is causing the loss of solid grounds. Tell pop I learned that one in Calcutta.

2000 LS v8 no power to fuel pump

I know nothing about the LS, but in reading the posts I did notice something--- Battery is reading 11.74 volts. That reading would be considered a dead battery. A fully charged battery is 12.68 VDC. If the LS is like any of the other computer laden cars - they don't like low voltage. That said...

    Key programming

Push the "RESET" button on the instrument cluster - that should clear the suspension error. The suspension error and the starting problem are two different unrelated issues. If I recall correctly - a good locksmith should be able to get into the PATS and clear old stored key codes and put in new...
