My 97 seeped oil from the lower pan. its a 2 piece block that likes to seep, not the usual oil pan like earlier 4.1 -4.9 series. be careful....it will actually cost around 1800.00.

the gauges in the base 97 was upgraded to earliet 96 ETC. the touring coupes always had upgraded suspensions and antilock control. Minor outside grill changes...overall pretty much the same car the whole cycle between 92-02. Too bad they killed this car, have had 2.

the 97 have premium required. it wasnt until a mild redesin in 2000 where the 4.6 went recommended. stay with premium..especially if its not Shell or BP...the heads WILL carbon up. If you can afford a northstar..you can afford premium.

I had a 92 TC with the 4.9, and put over 200,000 with little problem. low end power was great, never burned oil but ran out of breath around 4000 rpm. overall a much better engine than the old 4.1. the oil pressure was greater, and that helped the lifespan. I now drive a 97 Eld with the 4.6...
