Yes, T-Stat opening.. Ford calls it the engine fill cap. I bought the Mishimoto Vacuum Bleeder and Pressure Test kit. It has adapters for pretty well every car under the sun including "old fashioned" brass fill cap radiators. They screw on to radiators for oldest cars and T-Stat housing for the...
As I said in original post. ..... I replaced ALL plastic fittings and hoses and overflow tank and caps on. Also, waterpump, intake manifold gasket, and thermostat (of course as well is its housing).
Since these engines operate normally at 215+, the plastic ages prematurely. Turns out most car...
Hi All,
I replaced all plastic fittings and hoses and overflow tank and caps on my 3.9 engine in my 2004 T-Bird. My first attempt to fill the system and burp the air failed so I bought a Mishimoto Coolant Vacuum Bleed and Pressure Test kit. I drained all the coolant, then pumped up the system...
I found the problem.. the degas tank has two barbed hose fittings (to the left of the fill cap when you are facing the front of the car, molded into it. The larger one is a dead end (intentionally) and is plugged. It is used to loop a hose hanger to support one of the lines. Directly forward...
I've just replaced all the plastic and rubber with new. I've been trying to bleed following the procedures I've found on YouTube. Here's my concern. Each time I think I've bled it. I close the bleeder hose, and the new cap on the new degas bottle. I've been doing this while engine was...
I was thinking the same but hoping someone had a quick answer. You're right.... I'll ring out a couple of options which are close enough to make sure I'm not screwing it onto a chunk of plastic going nowhere.
Thanks
Brian
I bought all the parts and put almost all of them back in the car over the course a year.. forgot where this ground strap attaches... I think to the stud in firewall? This is a 2004 'bird but same engine. Can't find anything on the web nor the Ford Factory Manual. Does this strap attach...
I'm putting my intake manifold back and can't remember where the grounding strap connects? One side goes to stud on firewall (I think), and other goes I think to engine cover bracket?
I started this project before Covid.. and relied upon memory which isn't working to put things back.. The wiring harness for the fuel injectors is routed behind the intake manifold. I pulled the manifold to replace 100% of all cooling lines and hardware (car is 2004 Thunderbird). Manifold...
Thanks for the tips.. checking and fixing those is WAY less labor... except.. if HYDROCARBONS have been found.. those can't get in by Oil right? The oils is clear and not milky.
My son's 1996 58K mile Mark VIII sat a long time apparently in a garage. When we bought it, the whole car was/is cosmetically PERFECT inside and out. It has the Mystic Style Paint which turns from Tan to Purple.
Anyhow, front airbags were bad from sitting so long, and didn't want to put in...
My math is based on about two years of ownership. Praying that the overheat has not yet upset the Head Gasket....
I'm going through your part number list in the other thread. Still cheaper than a car payment for sure.
Man that fan shroud was in very tight.. I realized removing the right...
Well, I'm going to change out all the plastics as I have quite a bit of it already pulled apart. Good time to check radiator for coolant flow blockages and air flow. All the coolant system parts are still way cheaper than an engine rebuild.
