I replaced my 04's on May 26 2013 with a ToughOne brand unit from Advance Auto. After discount codes (I assume) it cost me just $108.49. This far, I've had no issues with it. I pulled it through the top and don't recall it being difficult.

Not today, actually a week'ish ago. God I miss the good and honest dealer I had in Titus-Will Ford/Toyota Tacoma's Service Dept. My current dealer, in another city & state, has *some* (mostly just one) good Service Reps, but my LS sat at the dealership for 80hrs for a simple battery test...

Pretty basic and boring compared to very recent posts, but cleaned & oiled the K&N intake filter. New fuel filter, along with coils & plugs are next on the list.

New Compressor, Dryer & recharge.

General "The Works" service at the local dealer last Thursday. Ordered new Motorcraft Coils & Plugs last night, shipped today, should be here Monday, will likely install next weekend.

Yeah as Joe said, that's the cooling system bleeder hose. Someone probably damaged the original plastic insert or it failed due to age (or more likely abuse) and they lazily replaced it with a bolt.

Replaced the thermostat and housing today, nothing major but much needed.

Yeah that could be the culprit. Case in point, I'm pretty sure my 2004 has the original thermostat and I'm fairly certain that it's stuck open. Just waiting on consistently good weather (or just stop being lazy and clean out my garage!) and I'll be doing a bunch of work on the cooling system.

Weather was nice and I had the time after work so I went ahead and replaced it today. Here's a picture of both the new and old regulators, showing the point of failure.

Going with a factory part, the dealer lowered the price and had it the same day. Not that the delivery date mattered on a Monday since I won't be installing it until this weekend anyway. Without knowing it they ended up bringing it down to the same price the Dorman unit would have been without...
