Please give me tips about different years of town cars

OK in my last thread LVC helped me decide I want a town car, as opposed to a crown vic or a mercury grand prix. I want a town car for the maximum space for rear seat passengers, ultra-smooth ride, quietness. Other reasons I like town cars is because I can work on them myself (used to have an...

If I like how a town car rides would I like other Panther chassis cars?

OK I read every word you ladies and gentlemen wrote. I'm just going to stick with town car. One of the deciding factors is that the extra length goes into the rear seat area. Another deciding factor is that I'm not going to do the police upgrades. Later on I'll narrow it down to a year range.

If I like how a town car rides would I like other Panther chassis cars?

The limo springs didn't make my town car sit high. I still had to inflate the air helper springs or it would ride too low. My old cartier didn't have full air suspension, it just had the load leveling air. Yes it's true I could get a crown vic or mercury grand marquis and upgrade the...

If I like how a town car rides would I like other Panther chassis cars?

Air! Rushsampson thanks for the tips. The town car I had didn't have air suspension. Just the heavy limo springs in the back and monroe limo shocks all around. The ride was incredible like that. Smoothest car I ever rode in. But now it sounds like you are saying air suspension would be...

If I like how a town car rides would I like other Panther chassis cars?

I used to have a 1988 Cartier Town Car that I bought for $1000 and drove for a year or two. I bought it in pretty bad shape, but AFTER I put limo schocks all around and limo springs in back, and really nice tires the ride was amazing. The suspension compressor was also dead so I disconnected...

    question for TC Owner's

Better find out why the title salvaged- Most salvaged cars will sell for $1000 or under. It can be very difficult to sell a car w/ salvaged title. I would offer them $400 cash due to salvage title and high mileage and see what they say. Tell them you are doing them a favor by taking if off...

    So That's how a Town Car Handles. . .

I bought my first Town Car about 3 months ago, and I thought it was supposed to handle like a heavy truck. I have been doing a bunch of things to bring the maintenance up to date. My tires and brakes were so bad I didn't drive it much and never went over 55 cause there was so much vibration...

beware driver emissions, need to reduce car emissions

I finally got that PCV valve out- the valve was working correctly, only the filter behind it was clogged, so I used a sheetrock screw to take that out and cleaned it. Car seems to be running better, but with so many recent repairs: cats, TPS, thermostat and todays I can't really tell what it is...

beware driver emissions, need to reduce car emissions

Passed Oregon emissions today. Car sailed right through with 2 new cats. the tps was bad but the cats were the main problem. Now I need a new driver emissions system. I do like the little triangle window, but there must be a better way.

beware driver emissions, need to reduce car emissions

Car still at shop- I have a friend who was going to have his shop do it, but then he decided to send it to a shop where they can diagnose it while it is hooked up to the same testing gear the state uses. I am curious to find out what their solution is going to be. I will keep you guys posted...

beware driver emissions, need to reduce car emissions

Aaarrrgh!! Defeated OK. My car ran about 50% better after I put in the new thermostat and the new throttle position sensor. But I could never find that PCV valve, I tried! After I put in the sensor I cleared the computer codes. The emissions over limit are reduced by 50%. Now the computer says...

Thanks 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC for the tips. I tested it on my driveway and the cooling system workded perfectly. First time it got to proper temp in the two weeks I have owned it. Then I drove it around the block and checked my handiwork for leaks. Still has the rough idle. Tomorrow night I...
